Pompey vs. Leicester

Fratton

26/11/11

Pompey ignore troubles to get on with business

Pompey welcome Leicester to Fratton tomorrow, this was the defining match last season that got our season up and running.

Vital Quotes:

First off, I am as sick of all the off field troubles as the next supporter, for nearly 3 years we have had turmoil off the pitch, we thought a new dawn had arrived with the stance that CSI had taken since arriving, the latest chaos may well threaten any stability once more, it also takes away from the home debut of Michael Appleton, what should of been all about a new on-field Pompey is now all about the same old, same old off-fiel crap.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey will hopefully have anew approach tomorrow, Apples has had a look first hand the attitude, he has decided he doesn't like it, that is fair enough for me, I would much rather have 11 triers on the pitch than a couple of so called big names who turn it on when thay fancy it.

The two WBA loanees go straight into the squad, Mattock has more or less been sonfirmed as a starter in place of Ben Haim, this is to do with round pegs in the right holes more than anything, big Ben has played pretty well this season and may feel unfortunate to be benched.

Thorne may also step straight in as well, Apples has high hopes for the 18 year old, Ward is supposed to be most at risk, but I have a feeling it may well be Norris has been very inconsistent.

Player to watch: Huseklepp

Been somewhat of a talisman at home, if Pompey can get him plenty of the ball, well, you know!

Leicester Team News:

Leicester have been a harder side to break down away from home than in the midlands, 2 defeats so far is not too bad a return, thay were many predictors tips for the top at the start of the season, big money was spent, but so far they have flattered to decieve so far, being 2 points from the play-off zone is not bad in my book though.

Vassel is out for the season after damaging his knee, Peiter is the biggest worry for tomorrow however, he limped out of last weeks 3-0 win.

Player to watch: Nugent

You know what to expect from Nugent, plenty of hard running and an eagerness to do well, all with a smile on his face, got to admit though, I wouls much rather see him in a one-on-one than than lining up a 30yard volley!

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey pulled off the double last season, Nugent netted in both, overall though Pompey have only won half as many as they have lost, 11 wins to 22 defeats.

Ref Watch:

Officially chosen by the FA's fit and proper department, Salman Butt

Match Prediction:

Splat down a prediction here.

Next Fixtures:

Coventry next week also at Fratton

The press reports about the arrest of Antonov are very worrying - esp after what we have been through in the last three years. However, like most people probably, I don't understand what effect it could have on the Club. Both PFC and Convers claim "business as usual" but I am not sure they are right. If the majority owner of Convers (and therfore of PFC) goes bust and ends up in jail, would his assets have to be liquidated - i.e. sold on again? Does PFC actually owe money to either Convers or Antonov (in the same way that PFC owed money to Chainrai)? Is there anyone who can analyse the possibilities - so that we can be re-assured (or not). Surely, somebody at PFC itself has put his/her mind to these questions and can tell us something?

I just do not know anymore, but what I do know is that I am sick of it all, sick of the premier league and its extortionate prices wage3s and exposure, i m sick of seeing more liverpool and mufc shirts in Plymouth city centre that argylle get at home park..Im sick of people not beleiving me when i tell them that there will be a European league with no promotion or relegation within 10n years...with the champions league morhing into the their equivilent of the FA cup, and a world cup for clubs for those inthe eleite continental leagues.. and all the rest os us will just end up semi pro or disappear beaause filks will preffer to watch Barcelona on line live rather than sheffield wednesday v spurs... I am sick of it...sick of gangsters and sharks telling us what we want and then charging us the world for it...i hate xfactor and all the sh7te it shoves into the media and the football equivillent.. I an sick of it ..sick-sick-sick...!!!.

Administration beckons again which would mean a 20 point deduction, well at least that is how the red tops are starling to spin it..Actually, i think it has been reported that the club have few debts if any, and can not go into administratiion, as long as debts/bills are paid (CVA Included)..also because of this financial status they could present as a bargain buy and there would be loads of geroups ready to buy us if worse comes to worse.. I am just gutted, having initially been sceptical about CSI because of their eastern european roots and the fact that one their dads was shot 17 times outside of a Russian resturant.. but then warmed to the way they were running the club.... BUT......maybe this is a blessing in disguise maybe its best brought out in the open NOW..before he started doing creative accounting here

'if' we default on the CVA payments then it would not be admin again would it not be 'the end' this time?
i may be totally wrong, but so long as the day-to-day costs are met, as are the payments as per the CVA agreement - do the others in CSI have the finances for this? - then albeit a 'bumpy ride' again we can get through this?
new owners AGAIN beckon, maybe we should put it down as crooks and villans only need apply...

Don't know if your future scenario is correct, Graham, but I'm also sick of big business taking over the 'working mans' game and Sky etc dictating when games can be played. Fine for 'armchair' fans without passion. Pass the bag...
PFCblue
as for the game itself, will soon be leaving for this - not that motivated at the moment i must say but once there i am sure i will be and fancy us for another home 3pts, 2-1 or 3-2 with nugent almost certainly scoring!

Just another example of why you need the angelic and Holy Father Harry. A prodigy that has successfully worked with footballs down and out, the meek and the week. Build an 80 foot golden statue of of the best and most successful manager that you have ever had, bolt it down well and he will come. Diamante tiara only placed on his head, cant bear the thought of nails or screws while he hangs over the Fratton stands. Haven't been for a while but have you fixed up the three working dumpers yet?
