Derby vs. Pompey

Pride park

28/10/11

Derby host the blues

Pompey look for a maiden away win for the season tomorrow, the opponents will be Derby who ended a great run for the blues last season.

Vital Quotes:

As the rumour mill rumbles on over who the next manager will be, Pompey have been quietly preparing for their next away fixture, the results away have been pretty poor so far, 2 resonably goos performance against West Ham and Ipswich have served up zero points, surely a change of fortune is due?

Derby Team News:

Derby Have had a solid old start to the season so far 21 points on the board and some decent results, this has been built on the back of solid defensive pairing of Shackell and O'Brien, both of who picked up knocks midweek, Shackell is the biggest doubt, an ever present so far this season and would be sorely missed if he doesn't make it.

Mason Bennett will again make the squad if he finishes an essay on French revoulution in time.

Player to watch: Steve Interesting Davies

Top boy with 5 goals to his name.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey still have a doubt over Benjani, his hamstring is still not 100% and may not be risked with Varney and Kitson in good form.

The only change that seems feasible is Ward swapping with Huseklepp once more, this worked well at Ipswich and Hagar makes a great impact sub.

Player to watch: Varney

Goals are starting to flow now he has moved inside, more please.

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey crashed to a 2-0 defeat last season in front of the camera, wasn't pretty either! Our last win at Derby was predictably in our promotion year.

I've heard Davies is injured aswell as another striker and there 2 central defenders are hit and miss to recover. Possibly one or two second choice defenders and a replacement 15 year striker could go to our advantage!? Derby have started very well but haven't won in 5 games. Pompey Win! ...I hope lol

Here's hoping Bennett get a detention!!...He was a handful last week apparently, he looks a top prospect!

tough team derby, but if there was a time to play them its now, with all their injuries, i reckon we could turn them over 2-1. pup
