Pompey v Barnsley

The new era gets off under the scrutiny of the Sky cameras tonight, how Pompey fare is anyone's guess though, still back to the football.

Vital Quotes:

Steve Cotterill has gone, pushed or walked is open to debate, but Pompey are now seeking a 14th manager in 14 years, hardly a stable ship after all, but then that is the modern way in football teams, how the team reacts will be very interesting, fans had this one down as a must win anyway, if we lose Cotterill may well of been on his bike anyway, but if we lose who will the pressure be on now, the players?

Pompey Team News:

Pompey can welcome back Luke Varney after suspension, this will be a welcome return, Riise looks most likely to give way after a shocker at Leeds.

Ricardo Rocha may find a way back into the team, he didn't seem to see eye to eye with Cotterill, now we will see how he gets on with the coaching staff!

In goal will be an interesting proposition, Henderson let no-one down last week, but Ashdown seemed to be a bit harshloy dealt with after his horror display against Peterborough.

Player to watch: Huseklepp

Our Norwegian has had a couple of weeks to get over his late OG now, he seems to have come on in the last month, maybe now he will flourish.

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley have a solid if unspectacular start to the season, they are 3 points better off than ourselves with the same amount of games played.

Davies and Edwards may make returns after spells on the sidelines, Danny Haynes and Matt Done are both still a while from making full recoveries though.

Player to watch: Luke Steele

A highly rated 'keeper a couple of years back, still only 27 and currently re-establishing himself at Barnsley, he stqands between Pompey and a much needed result.

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey have a 45% win rate against only losing 13 games out of 42, 10 of which have been in the last 20 years though!

Rocha centre, Halford Right Back, 4-4-2 at home! Wha-Lah! An easy win and clean sheet!!! Henderson is the no.1 for me! Rocha, Norris and Varney were brilliant! I'd tip Varney for player of the season! Good result! Good Display! Shame Forest lost...
