Pompey will be looking to bounce from their encouraging albeit disappointing defeat to Peterborough on tuesday evening with a better result at Elland road.
Leeds managed a 3-3 draw last week with high fliers Brighton, Leeds have averaged 2 goals a game so far this season, impressive in front of goal, but also lax defending it, letting in 15 to keep themselves mid table.
Pompey meanwhile have only just scored over a goal a game, 2 points seperate us but both teams will no doubt feel they should have a few more.
Steve Cotterill refused to blame anyone for the defeat on tuesday, to be fair Ashdown and Huselkepp both know individual errors cost us, Ashdown has genarally been sound in goal, Huselkepp was unlucky in the fact that he was doing his job in tracking back when he put through his own net, hardly just reward for putting a shift in!
Defence is obviously the consern for Leeds as Grayson struggles to find the right combination at the back, goals are no problem though, Leeds are chasing a 4th straight home win and it is the home form that has kept them on the coat tails of the chasing pack.
Kisnorbo is most likely to return after seeing out his suspension, whiule an old face in Andy O'Brien awaits once more, he had a bit of a nightmare in last seasons 3-3 draw I recall!
McCormack and Keogh are the men in possesion in attack at the moment, while Becchio is waiting in the wings for another chance to score the goals.
No brainer really, the Scot is full of goals with 9 already so far, 8 of which are in the league, Pompey need to stop him to have any chance.
Varney serves the final game of his ban, Mokoena may return after injury, but I feel SC may well stick with the same 11 from tuesday, the formation seems to suit us better away from home where the onus is on the home side to attack, I honestly feel SC is looking to copy the side that Benjani was in first time round, back then Pompey used to hit quickly on the break and played counter-attack all day long, it worked wonderously 5 years ago, harder to replicate so far.
Off and running now, he will be the fulcrum of any attack and need Huselkepp and Riise to support him when possible.
3-3 last term as Pompey staged a late fight back, there hasn't been a 0-0 betwqeen these two since 1960 in the old division 2, Pompey haven't actually been on the wrong side of a result since 1999, that was in the cup and last time in the league 21 years ago!
