Pompey vs. Crystal palace

Pompey v Palace

Pompey will be looking to build on their first home win of the year by welcoming fellow strugglers Crystal palace to the park.

Vital Quotes:

No revelations were really found by SkySports expose, all good really from my point of view!
Now its time for two teams who have struggled this season so far, Palace of course won the reverse fixture 4-1, this was a turning point for Pompey though, although the score suggests otherwise, it was the game where Pompey started to show a bit of promise.
Palace have never really kicked on from that standout result, however recent results have improved, the win against Sheffield United was a biggy for them, and 1 defeat in 6 games is an upturn in form.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey have a major doubt over Liam Lawrence, he is troubled by the same calf strain that forced out of Eire's last international. Hogg is available after a one match ban, this will at least counter Lawrence's expected abscence.

I fully expect this to be the only change to the side that beat Barnsley on saturday, Pompey now have a great chance to win 3 on the bounce for the first time since our great run in the autumn, the home drought has been quenched, now for a footballing display to go with it!

Player to watch: Hogg

Becoming the main man in midfield, will be welcomed back.

Crystal palace Team News:

Palace will hope Alex Marrow will be available after he missed the United win, but he will have a late fitness test.
Clyne is struggling with injury but has managed to cope with a carefully restricted training program. Kagisho Dikgacoi will continue in midfield after making the loan move form Fulham.

Player to watch: Vaughan

Scored a hat trick on his debut against Pompey, only 4 goals have followed since but he has Premiership quality.

Match Facts & Stats

Palace hold the edge in all games with 18 wins in 49 matches, Pompey clinching 13, but Pompey have only lost only 1 of the last 8.

hopefully we will see an interesting and entertaining game - a bet of rain overnight and during tuesday will make the surface interesting and make for a few nervey moments methinks...
this is a fantastic opportunity for both sides to push on should they get the 3pts and i 'think' that we will just about egde it, not sure we will manage a 3rd straight cleansheet tho.

Rug... a 3rd straight cleansheet maybe not, but a 3rd win and lovely 3 points yes. The play-offs are calling :-)

We should have enough to beat Palace tonight, especially the way their season has been going. Only 1 win for them on the road, 6 points out of a possible 48. Although our home form hasn't been as good as it was in recent years, you've still got to fancy us to make it 9 from 3 tonight.

id take a draw!!

It's going to be an interesting game. We are doing well and Palace have the worst away record in the league, but we shouldn't expect an easy win. Palace will fight to the death.

Palace have a decent record at FP. I'm expecting a tough match where if we ain't up for it, they will be & sadly they will walk off with all the points. They have improved under a new management & we know from our first encounter where we lost 4-1, if we don't take our chances, they will!!!

Good luck tonight though I don't think you will need it. I'll go for another win for you.

Glad SC has done the right thing by sitting Mokoena out. Let's get these points in the bag.
