Pompey vs. Burnley

Fratton

25/1/11

Pompey v Burnley (at last!)

After Leeds on saturday come Burnley, led by Pompey old boy Eddie Howe, impressive though his record was at Bournemouth, he has to prove it all again in Lancashire.

Vital Quotes:

Steve Cotterill has spoken of his renewed optimism after finally sitting down with Chanrai and Kushnir, this hopefully bodes well fro some stability on the way.
After the improved display against a high flying Leeds outfit, Pompey must look upwards again, we are nearer the trap door than the play-offs now, a couple of results in the right margin could change all that again.

Pompey Team News:

De Laet has found himself to be a true Pompey player already, he is injured! How serious is not clear, but he has definitely tweaked his groin. This would be the obvious time to reintroduce Rocha, he played most of the second half on saturday, but his hamstrings may be suspect if he plays again so soon.
Mokoena and Kitson both serve the last games of their respective bans, if we are lucky, the rests may have given them a chance to find some form!

Player to watch: Utaka

Seems to blow hot and cold, he was warmer than usual on saturday,I'm hoping the thaw hasn't kicked back in yet.

Burnley Team News:

Burnley have a few slight doubts, Clarke Carlise has a small knock, Pompey fans will be hoping he recovers after a defensive 'wondershow' at Turf Moor last season, while Steve Thompson has problem with his groin that is troubling him during matchplay, otherwise its a full squad to play with.

Player to watch: Eagles

The winger is apparently headed back to the top flight again, let's hope he doesn't stick another £250k on his tag tomorrow night.

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey have won the last 5 encounters, including a rare double last season, all in all it is 19 wins apiece though.

I'm not sure who is suspended tomorrow, can Kitson play. I'm sure Nugent will try to hard to score, I'm sure Burnely will get one at least cos Divo & Donko will start.

Looking at tbe vote, i don't think Matty Taylor ever spent much time as a full back.
