Pompey vs. Leeds

Fratton

22/1/11

15:00

Pompey v Leeds

Pompey meet Leeds for the second time in 4 weeks, the encounter also signifies the last time Pompey took any points!

Vital Quotes:

Pompey have a week off after last weeks demoralising defeat to Notts Forest, that match was a real sickener, but it at least the week off has given Kanu's ageing legs a week to recover.
Leeds had another FA cup encounter with Arsenal on wednesday, the may have lost but gave a good account of themselves against one of the Premiership elite.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey have new faces to add to the squad, but one new old face returns with Halford available again, he can now complete the season with pompey after agreeing a loan until May and completing a 3 match ban.

Ritchie de Lait will make his home debut, who gives way is another matter, Mokoena is out for 2 games with a ban, Rocha may return from injury, but Dickinson may give way.
Joel Ward looks likely to continue in midfield, his recent displays have really elevated his standing in the Pompey ranks. Utaka is another with a slight injury and may miss out, however Ciftci has returned to fitness to at least boost a threadbare bench.

Player to watch: de Lait

Impressive last week, now the Fratton faithful can get a first glimpse.

Leeds Team News:

Andy O'Brien is denied a return to fratton after tweaking a hamstring midweek, shame as we could do with a couple more assists from him! Bromby is most likely to fill in.
Influential Becchio is doubtful, but may make the bench.

Player to watch: Schmeichel

Been impressive of late, Pompey need to find a way past him to have any success.

Match Facts & Stats

3-3 last month, Pompey's last defeat in the league was 21 years ago, but we have been slaughtered in the cup back in 1999.

Nice one Paul, I have a feeling that because we are close to giving up, in order to drag on our pain Pompey will pull this one out of the bag. I'm glad to see the pre- match joker entertainment has been called off. This SOS mob are so bad I might have to join the trust. I've gone for 2-1 Pompey I just have to vomit to who along with Nuge scores a Pompey goal.

That would read better if I typed the word commit

Sadly having to work today & even had to turn down a free ticket. Unthinkable in recent decades. A tough game today & a draw wouldn't be a bad result. Leeds can't stop scoring & we always concede so much will depend on what we do in front of goal. Remember the 1-5 & 6-1 of seasons past.

Turning down something free, I'm told, unthinkable in your life time :-)
