Forest v Pompey

Pompey look to end a slump in form by tackling a Forest side on the cusp of the play-offs.

Vital Quotes:

Forest of course will still be smarting after suffering defeat at Fratton at the tail end of a very profitable October, since then Pompey's form has slipped somewhat, the goals are flowing, wrong end though!

All the chat midweek has been football related for a change, SC has given Lampitt a list of 3 players he would like to bring in, plus a further loan, the loanee has of course arrived, this hopefully will give the side a lift and galvanise a collapsing defence.

Notts Forest Team News:

Forest have no new injury worries, or suspensions for that matter, something Pompey can only dream of right now! Blackstock tore a cruciate a while back and will face a lenghty spell on the sidelines. Tudgay is available again after sitting out the cup game, otherwise it will be much of the same for what seems quite a settled first 11 at the moment.

Player to watch: Tudgay

At Fratton it was McGugan, the goals have dried up a little since then, but now Tudgay has signed and is finding the net, Pompey will have to be resolute all round to stop a side averaging two goals a game at home.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey can welcome Ritchie de Laet from Manchester Utd on loan, this will give an almighty boost to a defence that would be shot if it were a dog. He is predominantly a left back, although centre back is not foreign to him, with Dickinson and Mokoena well out of form and Sonko struggling to even find some, any could give way. Halford is still banned after his red at Watford, this should see Ward safe, another option is for Mokoena to move forward to midfield, but let's face it, he is poo there.
Sc has indicated that Lawrence may shift inside when the time is right, but with Lynch looking the weakest link in the Forest side you feel this wont be the game.

Player to watch: de Laet

Simply because we don't know what to expect!

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey won at Fratton of course, but did you know we have won our last 6 on the bounce against Forest?

Paultsmouth - I think you will find the ref is Keith Friend, the very same one Uncle Avram fell out with at the Sunderland game. Nattingham Forest are none to enamoured of him either. Just hope our lads behave themselves tomorrow, or we'll have about three players on the pitch come half time......

this is going to be a tough game, made tougher by the ref in question methinks - then again 'if' we show the kind of ill discipline that we have recently we will be giving the guys stones to throw at us!
give me a point all day long, altho 'if' we can somehow find the way of defending again and taking chances, which i suspect we will create, you never know...

That's so true, Rug, you never know what to expect from Pompey. which is good, because i'm starting to expect to conceede a lot, lose horribly and get lots of red and yellow cards. Fingers crossed our fortunes turn starting tomorrow.

If I recall, Forest at home was Sonko's best game in a Pompey shirt, and he scored!

TracyC I - MOI on the other hand have just stupidly put my tenner on a Pompey win, whilst the net bookie can't laugh in my face at my optimism he has given me good enough odds 4-1 to make up for the Pompey Christmas pantomimes. I suspect your premonition though is correct and once again the bookie will titter and smirk at my loyalty.

the game was ours for the taking when we were 1-0 up, or should i say ours to 'throw away' - and we did!

i did not go today, stayed at home in devon, but even i could see from here that we were dropping too deep and inviting too much pressure so chances were we would get punished.

having conceded the equaliser it was criminal that we kept doing this and then ended up getting nothing - gutted, but we brought it on ourselves, right?
