Pompey v Hornets

Pompey's anus horribulus has finished and so on to pastures new, who knows what this new dawn will bring, it could be another great ride, or just more slaps in the chops, still on to the match!

Vital Quotes:

Pompey are once again dominated by talks off the pitch, this time it is contracts, contracts that were issued by a past regime that has moved on, but still they have hamstrung a club that is already on its knees with a bloody nose. Rug has mentioned elsewhere that this is a huge month for a Pompey fan, one way or another we will know the direction our club is headed, if Nugent departs for a fee and Hughes and Brown are left to see out their contracts at home,we will know that the club is still in its downward spiral, if we can hang on to what we have and maybe strengthen slightly, a play-off spot is not withins the realms of possibility, whatever the out come we have a club to cheer on, more than we could of hoped for 12 months ago.

My one plea to Balram Chanrai is to 'speculate to accumulate', Pompey are not that far off the best in the division, surely a 'For sale' sign on Premiership row is more appealing than one on Championship terraces?

Watford Team News:

Watford have come out of the mid-winter slump with a couple of storming results, beating both table toppers QPR and Cardiff in some style, the goals never stopped flowing however and Danny Graham has been flying with 14 of them.

Player to watch: Graham

Obvious why, although Martin Taylor is a massve threat at set pieces from the back.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey are as depleted as ever, Hughes has joined Brown in the unavailable category, unless of course a late compromise is met, Ashdown is struggling with a knock, that may just give Flahavan the chance to be the second Pompey player with that name, if so it will obviously be a momentous occasion for him.
Liam Lawrence returns as his loan becomes permanent at midnight, while Kanu looks likely to be drafted in for the banned Kitson. Tom Kilbey may well be in for a debut, either on the bench or straight in if Ward doesn't recover from a back knock.

Player to watch: Lawrence

Now officially a Pompey man, never have we needed his prescence on the pitch so much!

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey came out rather fortuitous 3-2 winners at Fratton, it was in the middle of unbeatable run, Watford though more than played their part in a great match at Fratton.

I bet whoever is on the bench will have plenty of room to put their feet up.
