Pompey vs. Millwall

Fratton

29/12/10

13:00

Pompey v Millwall

Pompey hopefully return to Fratton park for the first time since the 13th of November when we fell to Doncaster, since then there have only been 3 games to savour, and 2 wins as well.

Vital Quotes:

First off for those trying to travel tomorrow, there will be no trains or buses on the day, the ferries will run their sunday services, but otherwise it is foot or taxi.

Anyway, Millwall await us tomorrow, the weather has seen us lose ground on the pacesetters, we are in fact one point off of our opponents tomorrow, we have a game in hand though and it will be a tough encounter against an old foe.

Steve Cotterill has finally mentioned the 'p' word, he was loathe to even think about promotion after our terrible start, but two impressive wins away to both Norwich and Swansea has refuelled his belief.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey have one enforced change to make, Halford is banned after picking up a 5th booking, this is countered however by the return of Dickinson from his own ban, this allows Ward to slot back in on the right.

Nugent has stated that he is going nowhere until at least the end of the season, this a boost in itself what with the wafer thin squad. Pompey's only issues maybe with Michael Brown, if his contract problem hasn't been sorted, he may well be absent.

Player to watch: Nugent

He has looked very lively again of late, the goals are starting to return for him as well, never a bad thing!

Millwall Team News:

Paul Robinson is the big doubt for Millwall, he has twanged a hamstring and looks a major doubt, Darren Ward will step in if he fails to make it.

Player to watch: Shittu

The defender is linked with a move to highfliers Cardiff, it remains to be seen if this will mess with his head or inspire him.

Match Facts & Stats

A 1-0 win was the outcome at the New Den, a late Lawrence penalty clinching the win. The last time we met at Fratton a solitary Toddy goal saw us home.

I've got a good feeling about tomorrow, as long as the players don't overdo it tonight, they'll be hungry for it tomorrow, especially considering they haven't played at home for what seems like forever.

glad that game went ahead, i would be lying if i did not admit that part of me would have wanted it called off so i would not miss it - but glad for those that could travel that it went ahead, just a shame we could not get all 3pts...

A point was probably a fair result from the game, the momentum swung back and forward and we were probably marginally the better team, but a point is nothing to be sniffed at.
