Pompey v Hey Donny donny

Pompey look to bounce back from the disapointment of the late draw on tuesday by taking on Doncaster, a team we have only met 10 times, and never as high as the 3rd tier!

Vital Quotes:

Doncaster are sat above Pompey right now, but so tight is this Championship season, we could be 8 places above them if we win tomorrow!!

The draw on tuesday was heartbreaking, but at least it was a return to form after a lackluster display last saturday, a string of the right results acts like a catapult this season, the play-offs are a tangible target, if QPR are the best the league has to offer, we have no worries.

Pompey Team News:

Liam lawrence will be the big miss tomorrow, his suspension was as bad as the peanalty decision that earned it, Ciftci looks most likely to step in, provided he has lost some of the 10lb he has alledgedly gained!

Nugent has neen in an oxygen tent all week, hopefully this has aided his recovery, I feel he might just make it.

Player to watch: Utaka

Coming to the boil again after a 2 year power cut, a firing Utaka should tear up this league.

Doncaster Team News:

Donacaster have afew worries, Mills and Woods both have knocks, Billy Sharp has a n outside chance while Lockwood, Friend and Gillet are all crocks.

Player to watch: Healy

Flatteers to decieve sometimes, but he has class when he performs

Match Facts & Stats

10 games, 7 wins and 1 defeat, that came in 1979 when Pompey were at their lowest ebb at the basement. Our last meeting was in 1983 when we were lead by Alan Biley and still awaited the arrival of Mark Hateley!

Ref Watch:

Anyone but that turd from tuesday

Match Prediction:

hedge a bet here.

Next Fixtures:

Barnsley in deepest Yorkshire

I don't think I've ever seen Pompey play Donny ever. It's going to be an odd game, more a curiosity. I'm hoping Kitson will make it for this game, he has to turn it around ala Nuge. What I'm not sure about is who will line up along side Kitson; Nugent, Utaka or 10 ten tonne shifty. I suspect Nugent will get in the game at some point as the team can't be without two energetic playmakers, the Donc-ys will need to be pressed. Of couse Kanu could be called on to add a touch of class. I would like to see Rocha and the Herminator get some game time.

Seen every Donnie league game at FP. Billy Bremner was their first manager to bring them here.

It may sound weird, but I would play a 4-5-1 formation to let them play in midfield and then counter attack, especially if Nugent is not fit. At the back I would play Ward-Rocha-Sonko-Dickinson, a five man midfield: Mullins (RM, he played it before) Brown-Hughes-Mokoena-Utaka and Kitson up front. If Brown is slightly ahead of Hughes and we play on Utaka and him, we would win their midfield. Any one agrees?

I don't think you will lose today and fully expect you to score a couple at least. Another big gate will help drive you on again as you keep consolidating.

Struggling out of my sickbed for today's game (proper flu not manflu). Am going to the Pompey shop first to treat myself to a nice new blue woolly hat and then I'm going to the game to watch us WIN! (I deserve it). PUP PUP PUP!
