Pompey get the ideal opportunity to exact swift revenge for our Carling cup exit, 3 days have passed and Leicester return for another crack.
Mid-September now, 21 points were possible and 2 have been achieved, if Pompey had a Premiership hangover, the championship Alka Seltza are well overdue now. The time for excuses is over now, all the crap about doing pre-season in the domestic season can finish now, pre-season itself is only amonth long, we kicked off almost 7 weeks ago now, time for some results please Pompey.
Pompey won their 8th game of the season last term, so if we lose tomorrow we will actually be worse off than this time last year, that is a very scary thought.
Leicester came to Fratton on tuesday and to be fair deserved the victory, 2 first half goals saw them home, Pompey were as benevolent as always, both in front in goal and in defence.
David Nugent is fast taking the Franny Jeffers route, early promise will see him slip into league 1 before he knows it, potential only carries you so long, then it is wasted talent and the treadmill of lower league football on reduced wages, time to deliver mate.
You can sense the fans patience running a little thin now, last term was a bit different, we were in effect a dead man walking last season, but this year we have team that should be competitive in this division, we keep hearing we are turning the corner, but if you keep turning you end up at square 1 don't you?
Pompey will welcome back Rocha no doubt, Sonko is squad material at best, I won't knock the fella, but he has his limitations and won't be first choice for sure.
Likewise Kitson should return along with Utaka, their introduction on tuesday coincided with our most attacking period.
Brown should replace Hughes, the people's skipper can influence this game for sure.
He is far and away our best player now, he holds the keys, can the strikers find the locks?
Leicester had the luxury of making 8 changes on tuesday, the players that came in did well though, a fair few may well keep their places as the first choice team have hardly excelled yet.
Chris Weale is fit again, but understudy Logan stood out on tuesday, he may have been helped by Pompey's strategy of shooting straight at him, but he stood up well.
Paul Gallagher and Steve Howard will be hoping to force their way back in.
Took his goal well midweek and threatened on the ball, Pompey will be looking to shut him out this time.
See Tuesday's preview, only change is another defeat!
