Pompey vs. Blackburn

Pompey v Blackburn

Could be a farewell to all things Premiership tomorrow, if we lose and others win, that's it, goodbye and farewell and thanks for the memories, although I do feel the Premiership will be glad to see the back of us at last!!

Vital Quotes:

All the talk of this weekend being the final cutain puzzles me somewhat, Pompey haven't had a fighting chance since the start of the season, our squad was torn apart in the summer, once Kranjcar and Distin departed, that was it, Begovic shone brightly along with Kaboul, both they had to depart also.
If anyone has a good game now, they will be next out the door, Pompey have been hamstrung since the season kicked off, it's miracle we made it to April.

Pompey Team News:

If you have a blue shirt, wear it tomorrow, the way things are going with injuries you may well be dragged out the crowd.
Pompey have lost Hermann and Webber for the season now, Belhadj has joined his mate Yebda on the sick list, while Quincy has cut short his whistle stop visit by flying off to Qatar.
O'Hara is at least available again after missing last week's visit to his parent club, while Tommy Smith may wear a Batman mask in the hope of playing. The youth squad is making its way onto the bench now, so we may get a sighting of Ward, Ritchie and the like before the season is out.

Player to watch: Vanden Borre

He was probably our brightest player at White Hart Lane, in a more advanced role he looks more of a threat, if we are lucky we may be able to rustle up enough defenders to keep him on the wing!

Blackburn Team News:

Blackburn are the opposite of Pompey, safety is virtually assured now, while their squad is almost injury free, even Nelsen and Robinson are back in contention.

Player to watch: Kalinic

Pompey chased him hard at the start of the seaon but it fell through financially (surprise) he took a while to settle but has found his feet with 7 goals and looks the part now.

Match Facts & Stats

Pompey generally share a few results with Blackburn, our last win at home ended a series of 2 goal leads being thrown away, funnily enough though, all 3 scorers have departed!

Ref Watch:

Dancin' Danny 'd'

Match Prediction:

Have Pompey got a last hurrah? Or is it all over? stick you prediction here.

I'm taking my 4 year old again, he has been twice so far this seaon and hasn't tasted defeat yet!!

We need a good luck charm!

And it's a 3 o'clock kick off, I'd almost forgotton what that's like.

Lets just try to keep it as long as possible before the inevitable relegation is mathematically assured. I wonder who our starting line up will be, and will it include any kids?
tracyc
The way it's going it could include Paul's 4 year old!
Lemmi
And i say - many players injured, or injured slightly, lets keep them fresh to wembley. and who knows...

I'll be wearing my pumps just in case.

I don't expect us to get any results anymore. So as long as whoever is playing give it their all then that is all I hope for. I will be at Wembley, Wigan and Villa and just pleased to be watching Pompey.

I have the utmost respect for player power and think you could surprise Blackburn.

Freddys on the bench and not one youngster starts. Pompey: Ashdown; Vanden Borre, Rocha, Mokoena, Mullins; Brown, Basinas, O’Hara, Hughes; Kanu, Utaka Subs: O'Brien, Nlundulu, Ward, Ritchie, Sowah, Piquionne
pompeyfcmad
Was one of those games where neither side deserved a point tho Pompey being a rag tag and bobtail side today was like Dunkirk and to get a point was pretty impressive. Poor old Sowah was well out of his depth, all 5st of him
hammersmithblue
Well you fought to the end but the red card certainly has not helped. Your spirit will help if you get some players back for your big game.
SFC Forever
Holding out for a draw with 10 men is something to be proud of, especially as frankly Blackburn deserved to win. And it means we're still not technically down yet. But losing another player is a big big blow, its getting hard to keep positive about the semi - but we're Pompey, and we will be positive and we will sing and shout and wave flags - they can't break our spirit!
