Pompey vs. Hull

Fratton

Pompey v Hull

Pompey take on Hull in what would of been a relegation six pointer a week ago, now though with our deduction newly in place, it is more a case of a relegation threatened side up against a doomed side.

Vital Quotes:

Avram has almost said stuff the Premier league, he feels the 9 point deduction was unjust and says we owe them no favours.
A long team meeting was to have taken place today to ascertain who wants to play and who wants to see out the season as they feel fit. If this is true, we will learn a lot about certain players tomorrow, if a couple of first choice players are suddenly absent until the semi-final, it will go some way to explaining their character and desire. Relegated or not, if I was a player I would still want to play every game available.
Another thing to consider is us fans, do we want to see a team in blue roll over every match? Especially against a side that we are a match for, and a side who are now managed by a trio of ex-scum players.

Pompey Team News:

David James is a doubt with his calf, while Yebda and Boateng are not quite fit yet, Ben Haim may come back into the reckoning, hopefully with Wilson moving back into midfield rather than centre back where he suddenly looks out of place.

Player to watch: O'Hara

You can bet he will want to play, he also needs to re-find his form which has slipped in the last two games.

Hull Team News:

Hull are in almost as deep as Pompey, their form is dire, 20 games without a win sees them just above Pompey, although certainly a few points better off! To be fair they held Arsenal well last time out, but finally succumbed, Boateng saw red in that match and so will be banned tomorrow.
Stephen Hunt may return and this would offset the absence of Zayatte who was carried off against the Gunners.

Player to watch: Bullard

He is the man who seems to make them tick, until his latest injury he was bang in form, if he finds it again we could be in trouble

Match Facts & Stats

No defeats in 8 for Pompey against Hull, now wins in the last 3 either, a 2-2 draw under Tony Adams the last time we scored against them.

Ref Watch:

Mark Bedford

Match Prediction:

Have Pompey blown out? Or is there still some fire left? Have your guess here.

Next Fixtures:

Chelsea, then Spurs.

9 games left, nothing to play for, you watch us go like rabbits now lol. 9 games left, 7 winable, thats 21 points, 31 in total... not enoiugh to survive i doubt, but enought to finish off the bottom and i would welcome that
Midge
that'd 1 hell of an achievement Midge but hell it'd be great wouldn't it. as said in the forums they're ruderless at the minute so should be there for the taking PUP!
pompeym@
I have a lot of time for Jimmy Bullard, we have to stop him playing.
Lemmi
grant should have the right to chop and change now and give a few youngsters a chance teams have always rested players if they are in a fa cup final or champions leauge and got nothing to play for in the leauge... so whats the big deal...... they are lucky we are in the cup still because we would of sent all the loan players back by now .. also if we play a few youngsters we could well put them in the shop window and make money for the club by selling them so whats the harm their ??
pompeyhussler
Any friends we may have left will ridicule us further if we just roll & die for the rest of the league games. I'd except gettinmg beat by the top 10 side but I hope we put one over Hull. Those of us with a season ticket should be refunded for the remainder of the season if we are served up reserve team football!!!
storagematt
We might be going down, but lets bring Hull down with us! And lets get the points on the board to put that Derby County points total record to bed.
tracyc
lets go down fighting, and smiling tho, so grant must select as strong a side as he can - do not want 'weakened' sides fielded, yep i WOULD like to see some of the kids that will be involved next season have a burn, but at the right times and in the right way...
pompeyrug
Hope we still show spirit and at least give it our best for the remaining games. I guess the players are on a win bonus per game so I guess it is in their interest to win.
race
was that enough spirit race? coming back from 2-1 down to win...
