Pompey travel up to Lancashire in search of a very unlikely double, we have turned over a lacklustre Liverpool side already at Fratton, maybe we can add them to our doubles list that so far includes only Burnley.
Liverpool fans will scoff at the idea, but Pompey will have no fear as we have only pride to play for realistically,(unless the 9 points can somehow be evaded) while Liverpool have had 2 demoralizing defeats in a week, these are added to the 8 further league defeats this season, hardly what you would of expected from the reds this season.
Torres has muddied the waters in an already turbulent sea on Merseyside, by stating that he would have to consider his future if further arrivals did not come, although not as skint as Pompey, the debt situation at Anfield is well documented and failure to qualify in the top 4 would damage the situation further.
So can Pompey pull it off? The bookies wiould give you decent odds, but Liverpool have only 2 World class players in Torres and Gerrard, Carragher is solid, but if you were to remove Reina in goal the rest are average, if Pompey can contain for the first half hour, the partisan home crowd will grow frustrated, Pompey can turn it on in spells, not as consistently as we would like (hence our position) but when it clicks we are still a smart outfit.
Aurelio and Skrtel are both still crocked, while Benayoun is a major doubt, otherwise its an injury free squad.
The main goal threat of course, he has admitted to his frustration, let's hope he doesn't take it out on us!!
Rocha is available again after his second suspension in his short Pompey career, Smith, Mokoena and Vanden Borre have all had a run out in a behind doors friendly, but all will likely sit this one out.
Hasn't scored for a little while after playing further wide than he likes, but I reckon he is due one.
2-0 before Christmas, Belhadj with a screamer and Piquionne with an angled finish, we don't generally get much at Anfield, but I seem to remember Lua Lua grabbing an equaliser a couple of years back.
Steve Diggle
Can Pompey pull off mission impossible and give out another bloody nose? Have your say here.

i have a decent feeling about tonight, we have literally nothing to lose and much, much more pressure will be on them - if the fans turn that would really help us. an unlikely double? perhaps, but one i think we might pull off...
