Burnley vs. Pompey

Turf Moor

27/2/10

15:00

Pompey play football sometimes too...

Now Pompey have taken the football equivalent of a euthanasia injection, our beleagured team will roll up to Turf Moor to tackle a burnley side as threatened by relegation as we are.

Vital Quotes:

Hard to find any quotes about the football side of things at the moment, but hopefully Pompey may just say sod it now, we are all but a Championship side if not by name, time to throw off the shackles and play freely, we are about to depart, let's leave a little reminder.

Even the most optimistic fan has been ready for this for weeks, its a bit like a life support machine to a terminally ill patient finally be switched off, Pompey have a pulse still however, just need a transfusion!

Burnley Team News:

Graham Alexander returns after a month out, his abscence has conincided with Burnley's worst run of form this season, he will be joined by Countdown Champ Carlisle after his foot injury was found to be not as bad as feared.
David Nugent is ineligble, Paterson should repalce him.

Player to watch: Alexander

The penalty king is Burnley's heartbeat, his return will be welcomed by all Clarets.

Pompey Team News:

Piquionne is out after pulling his hamsterstring last week, he should be replaced by one of the remnants from happier times, John Utaka, Ben Haim may come back in, and Hreidarsson can celebrate another relegation by returning to the side after achilles problems.

Player to watch: Diop

He is probably Pompey's longest serving player now, but let's face it, he has been absolutely crap this season, time for a return to the colussus he can be.

Match Facts & Stats

2-1 at Fratton, but last time we met at Turf moor was a Pompey win in the league cup, in the league it was a 3-0 win in our promotion season.

Match Prediction:

Is that it then? Will we rollover, or is it time to play without fear of a mistake? Have a guess here.

Let's hope the team and our fans show pride during these dark days. Reading the Administrators report on the BBC site it seems that he's going to fight the 9 point deduction. Whatever happens let's show the world what PFC is all about.

Come on Pompey - I think we're going to get something today!

The players can now play with a sense of freedom. We know we're as good as down and some of them will be hoping to attract a new club so surely they'll be wanting to enhance their reputations. Let's go down with a fight and let's win the FA cup too whilst we're at it. Actually, our plight in the league may just help out chances in the cup in that we can focus on the cup rather than the league.

Good to see you all keeping positive lads. It's far from over & I expect pompey to fight like never before on the pitch, so stand with them & keep that bell ringing!!! Wolves were in this position not too long ago and we found our feet again, you can do it too! Good luck & keep smiling.....
