Them vs. Rip roaring Portsmouth!

On Sky

Return of the crunch

Premier league survival is obviously paramount, but this game is as big as they come for anyone in Hampshire and the surrounding areas, neraly 5 years (yes, really) have passed since we last met, fortunes have twisted and turned since then, but the pride instilled in a Pompey win will remain the same.

Vital Quotes:

Don't know about everyone else but this game has been a long time coming for me, I have done a job in Hedge end for scum season ticket holders, and also one near Botley, I've thouroughly enjoyed winding up the natives talking about our easy passage into the quarter-finals, trouble is I have to face one of these customers again, so {Pompey had better not fail me!
After Tuesday's performance against Sunderland, I am hoping the passion and agression will flow on into this game, Pompey showed signs of a pulse in that match, only Richard Hughes has played in a South coast derby before, but if the players want to know how much it means to us fans, they will find out against Stoke, lose and they will be vilified, win and we will forgive them almost anything.

Them Team News:

Scum will be without their January signings Jose Fonte, Dan Seaborne, Jon Otsemebor and Jason Puncheon who are all cup-tied, Lee Barnard is eligible however and can step straight in. Chris Perry and Radhi Jaidi will probably come back in for the cup tied players.

Player to watch: Ricky Lambert

22 goals tells its own story, he has been prolific in the lower leagues for a while, goes without saying he is their main man.

Rip roaring Portsmouth! Team News:

Pompey will be without Rocha after his red card, O'Hara has been granted permission to play in the cup this time round, if Tosic is eligible remains to be seen however, we have no new injury doubts and Utaka is supposedly fit to go as well, Boateng and Vanden Borre remain doubtful.

Player to watch: Dindane

He might struggle for goals in the Premiership a bit, but he does get into positions to miss the chances, may find a bit more space against lesser defenders.

Match Facts & Stats

4-1 is engraved on our minds of course, but we have lost our last 5 visits to out lovely neighbours, and have yet to win at St.Marys, we have only met 3 times in the Fa cup and have lost the lot!!

Ref Watch:

don't care as long it is not Kevin Bloody Friend!

Next Fixtures:

Stoke next week.

To the 11 men in blue tomorrow, if you lose head West and never return!
The last time I went to to a derby on their patch it was at the Dell and we won 2-0. Looking forward to a repeat.
I never knew our record against Scum was so bad? Didn't we stuff them when Redknapp was in charge of them? Anyway, thats all in the past - tomorrow is Ours!
Jamie Ashdown has also played in he derby. Debuts in these games are always dodgy (Tosic) remember that keeper called Chalkias the last time we were at the new dellhi.
Come on Pompey. I just hope Avram understands this...and plays his best 11.
Pompey Malta
Howard Webb is the referee btw.
cheers dave, you have made my night - howard webb, would rather have not know...
looking forward to this quite alot now, not at all nervous as i do not fear defeat in the least as it WILL NOT happen!
Perhaps take it to a replay, we could do with the money, lol.
For many reasons I have chosen not to go this time. Having been to 5 out of the 6 away games against scum, I'll be home alone screaming the house down. I must admit recent events have taken a lot of wind out of my sails. I can't imagine life without Pompey, having given so much of my life to Pompey. I hate the scum with a passion, like so many I come from a generation where we below them for so long, & took the cr4p that came with it. I just wish we win & survive what comes in the courts.
Against poorer opposition, Utaka, Dindane and Piquionne are normally on fire. I just hope we don't have a reverse of the 2004 Fratton Park fixture - I fear our 'borrowed' players don't know what they're in for. If I leave St Mary's with any kind of voice left I will have failed the PFC. PUP.
Tracy i was at that game at the dell, sadly the Police would not allow any TV coverage...i do remember Vince Hillaire taking the urine out of two defenders in the bottom corner doing some Proto-Ronaldho moves

CMON LADS!!!! u lucky buggers going to this one!
oh god! i thought belhadj was gonna bring him down in the box then PUP!
HALF TIME MULLINS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
think im the only one on here.. but geez, a lot of these players dont understand how big this game is.. Yebda has been useless! we should be down by a couple at half time & whats all this long ball nonsense?? cmon Avram
Mullins is one of the few who has been OK - considering he's playing as RB. Diop is obviously not fit, but the only midfielder on the bench is Hughes. Dindane & Utaka are both on another planet (and probably another day). Apart from that PUP.
Grateful to be level at ht. Diop is not in. Utaka & Dindane running like headless chickens. The scum are hungry & are hassling us all over the pitch. Need to much better second half.
Finally something decent!! could have had a penalty there
KILLIN EM!!!!!!!!!!! god i would love to be there right now.. what a game! this could be the start of a good run
Epic win!!!PUP!Ura!Ura!Ura!

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie I LOVE U
Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, or should i say Lua Lua..... Fantastic substitution's by Grant....Belhadj's little faint to make davis moves to his left then slot it in was superb and QOA's cross pass to O'Hara to Wallop...class...

Sorry not to be with you Nodster but I was showing the passion of a derby to a couple of Senegalese friends. The first goal was a beaut, showed class. Well done to all the lads especially Jamo.
With one hundred and one suggested predictions we could make over on your poll....even you couldn't get it right!!! Con gratulations all the same!
Just got back from a volatile scum-land, knackered but very very happy! What a match, what a result! The natural order of things on the south coast has been very much retained! Get in!
I thought Mullins played reasonably well in the first half frenzy. James was James. Our first goal was sublime, what composure. The Belhadj dummy for his goal was world class. Owusu makes Utaka look slow and talking of Utaka, he just does not have the first touch ability to succeed in a hectic scenario.
The battle was won. The war will have a different ending, either next week or on March 1. A dying swansong.

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world. I can drive to work, into to scum, with my PFC number plate & hold my head very high. I'll have that extra smug look & a big smile inside.
Oooohhh I think I detect some sour grapes here from the geezer up the road, don't you guys and gals?

Hornsea you muppet! If we go under it will be nothing to do with what Scum have been able to do to us which is precisely Eff All. So belt up you cackheap.
aah, but that's just the point, hammersmifff, if the skates hadn't tried so hard to overturn 50 years of hurt......... they wouldn't have bankrupt themselves. it's precisely that they lived in the shadow for soooo long that they tried just that bit too hard, and now their very brief moment in the sun is all but over. goodnight!
