Pompey v Cats

Pompey
vs.
Sunderland

Fratton

23/1/10

15:00

4th round time in the FA cup and Pompey welcome Sunderland to Fratton park to contest a place in the 5th.

Vital Quotes:

All the pre-match quotes are the same, Pompey are skint, blah, blah, Sol to sue, blah, blah, Udinese to sue, blah bloody blah, Kaboul off etc.etc.etc.

We used to play football at Fratton, now its a soap opera to rival Eastenders, well El Dorado anyway, the football has paled into insignificance now, a match will take place, but much like the last round outing at Fratton, all eyes will be elsewhere, chants will be aimed at an empty directors box, a march to Fratton will ensue, and Sunderland will enter the surreal world that is Pompey.

Pompey Team News:

Any bugger who is signed on and still here.

Player to watch: Vanden Borre

Simply because I think he will get a game!

Sunderland Team News:

Sunderland have a plethora of riches to choose from in comparison to the carcass of Pompey, Craig Gordon is fit to return after injury, likewise Luke Cattermole, Richardson and Andy Reid while Michael Turner has completed his 4 match ban.

Player to watch: Bent

The England hopeful will be looking to add to his notch at the Stadium of Light against Pompey, he and Jones have scored more between them than Pompey have in total in the League!

Match Facts & Stats

Since the War we have met just the once in the Cup, Sunderland winning 1-0 at Fratton back in 1999 in a rare December cup tie.

Very funny Paultsmouth, love the humour. I reckon there will be more media than fans at FP tomorrow, and sod the march, its a total waste of time, Ill be having a few pints in the fans tent and watch it on the big screen, hahahah, Oh Pompey will win too, 2-1, I just have this feeling :-)

We're bound to win. There just wouldn't be a Pompey-size dose of bitter irony to go around if we didn't win. Probably 3-2, having been 2-1 down with 5 minutes to play. Then right as the final whistle blows, a press conference will be called. That would be Pompey.

hussler, I think you have read my team prediction/ plea on a previous article... I think we will win 1-0. as for playing them in the cup...we nearly did once in a semi final or final. we drew liverpool they drew Norwich i seem to recall, both from these other two semi finalist like ourselves were second division teams...a bit like 2008 really...

Volunteers wanted to help Portsmouth Football Club Would all the Vital Portsmouth members who are free at 10 am this morning please report to Frogmore Road. You are needed to form a chain to pass the buckets of water from a house in Frogmore Road along the chain to pour on to the pitch. (Fratton Park has had its water cut off - something about bills from 1999 haven't been paid - but the club are optimistic that the sale of James could lead to the loan of some water before the end of the month possibly). All those that turn out are promised a ticket for our next Division 2 game.
