Pompey make the trip to Lancashire once more in a what has been a somewhat delayed fixture, we face a Man U side who as I type are in pole position for the title once more, but have just crashed out of the FA cup to Everton.
Well Man U rested their big guns on Sunday, either in respect to Pompey on wednesday, or just disrespect to the cup itself, anyway, they slipped out of the cup again, and again it was the ref's fault, seem to remember it was at old Trafford last term!
Fergie will no doubt have all the big boys back for the league fixture however, but if either Vidic or Ferdinand is absent they have had a tendency to ship goals of late.
Pompey come into the fixture feeling a lot more comfortable after dispatching with the side from Greater Manchester on saturday, but our record in league fixtures at Old Trafford is dismal, you have to go back to the days of the Busby babes for our last win on their turf.
Expect Ronaldo and Rooney to return, slimy and Shreck are well rested, and will be asked to fire in the goals to get United bandwagon rolling once more.
The likes of Wellbeck and Gibson will probably slip right off the radar for this match, but Machedo is becoming an unlikely match winner and should be poised from the bench.
He might make my skin crawl just looking at him, but the memory of last seasons free kick against Jamo sticks in my mindbank, thats enough to make him number one danger man in a team full of mavericks.
Pompey are definitely without Kranjcar, his ankle isn't as bad as first feared, but will still be enough to keep him out until May.
Glen johnson will probably be asked to continue in his midfield role, as much as having another defender further up the pitch as anything.
Sean Davis should be okay after opening up his knee injury again, whilst Belhadj will be hoping to replace Kranjcar on the left.
Gekas may feature in the squad as he plays in the reserves tonight.
He's been stewing on the bench of late, but injury may have pushed back into the frame, and what better stage to show what we have been missing?
19th October 1957, that was the last time we came away with maximum points up there, Pompey were a fading giant at the time whilst United seemed destined for great things with a youthful looking squad, everyone knows the rest.
Douglas Trendle (Inner London)
Can Pompey smash a 52 year hoodoo or will it be service as usual? Hedge a bet here.
Up to jolly old Newcastle

manyoo will view this as a game they 'will win', but if we can frustrate them the gaps will appear, we just have to take the chances - i really hope we start with belhadj as his pace could cause big problems for them, why not give him a free kranjcar style role, lets be honest he will cover more ground than niko will, and at speed, granted he lacks some of his quality but he will not be afraid to run and then shot. i do not see it as a risk, i see it as brilliant thinking doing this, but then again i would, as i thought of it :-)

To be honest, I think Hart will start with Kanu in the holding role, and possibly Wilson or Noe in with Johnno on the right. He will want to keep as much of the shape from the last matches as possible, and this is the only way I can think of him doing it.
