Pompey start all over again tomorrow, with our third manager in just over three months.
Pompey and City sit close in the wrong end of the table, but our fortunes couldn't be further apart right now, city have their plush new stadium and state of the art training facilities, we have decrepid old Fratton, someone elses run down training facilities and a full bladder without your proverbial pot.
Tony Adams' tenure has ended, Paul Hart and Brian Kidd are the men at the helm now, but will it be 'here comes the new boss, same as the old boss'?
After a week of upheaval, Pompey have gone from a managerial greenhorn to old heads in Paul Hart and a wealth of experience in the shape of Brian Kidd, you do feel that if Tony had made the call for Kidd himself he would still have his hand on the Pompey rudder.
A couple of players have spoken out now saying the time was right to change the manager, maybe a nod to how the dressing room felt in general?
Anyway, to the football and Pompey had 3 on duty midweek with England, Kranjcar scoring for Croatia and Gekas hit one for Greece, hardly sounds like a struggling side on paper does it?
This game should be about David James record breaking feats in usurping Gary Speeds premiership apperances record, but the stakes are so much higher, Jamo kept 16 clean sheets last term and 1 tomorrrow to add to his 4 this season would not go amiss.
Pompey welcome back Traore, Kaboul and Marc Wilson back from various ailments, while Pennant is available after missing the Liverpool game because of Premiership rules.
Pompeys young striker seems the most likely to score now after a long barren spell, he has also been one to show the right character when a few others have seemed to be playing within themselves.
Man City will have Shaun Wright-Phillips banned for his flick on Rory Delap, while Richard Dunne continues his 4 match ban.
Elano should be able to follow up his goalscoring Brazilian feats with a return to City's side, while old Favourite Benjani and supposed window target Sturridge join Petrov on the absentee list.
Our old friend played himself back into form a few short weeks ago at Fratton whilst with West Ham scoring twice. Trouble is he always has a blinder at Fratton!
Goals aplenty is the order of the day, Pompey had a spanking up at Eastlands, while we average around 3 or 4 goals a game over the seasons.
Lady luck.
Will the old adage of a new manager and first win come through? Or will Citys millionaires gain a first away win since August? Place a guess here.
