Pompey can leave the vents of the last few days behind and get on with the real stuff now.

Vital Quotes:

Today was a hectis one, Adams was confirmed as boss, so it really is 'Tony Adams' blue and white army', Harry showed up again to collect his freedom of the City award, and the stadium was supposedly taking a step forward.
As it is we 'play' football as well, and so to Liverpool.
Liverpool are trying to convince everyone that they are really genuine title contenders this season after many a false dawn, the first defeat of Chelsea at the Bridge in 4 years has certainly added substance to their claim.
Pompey have what is termed a crap record at Anfield, we normally get trounced, from memeory we have 1 point there in all our time in the Premiership, and a draw in the FA cup.
Liverpool are showing resilience this term, often scrapping a win whilst not necessarily being the better team, a trait Man U a familiar with.

Liverpool Team News:

Torres is definitely absent with his hamstring injury, Robbie Keane took a knock at Chelsea along with Kuyt, but both could still figure.

Player to watch: Gerrard

Seems to drag Liverpool along with him sometimes, the other 10 can have an off day and Gerrard ups the ante and wins the game by himself.

Pompey Team News:

Still no Johnson who has a pelvic injury, Sol may dip out again with sore hamstrings, so Kaboul will fill the breach again, a job he did admirably on Sunday.
Pamarot will play right-back, the Frenchman is solid if not as attacking as Jonno.
Left-back may see Hermann get another run out, but with Belhadj and Traore offering such speed down that flank I would be loathe to change it.
Diarra should have shaken off his knock, and maybe partnered again with Sean Davis who has sat out his suspension, but this would be hard on Richard Hughes who has done himself no harm recently.
Kranjcar made a welcome return Sunday, but will probably come on from the bench a few more times yet.

Player to watch: Crouch

Point to prove? I reckon!

I think the Eastenders scriptwriters are having a hand in Pompey destiny right now. Redknapp goes and cometh the man Adams. And who is first up but the Premierships in-form and leading Liverpool. And Crouch is looking hungry for revenge after all those games on the bench and Benitez gameplans which misused his talents. I may be wrong, but I get a feeling that for all Liverpool's form just now, Portsmouth want this more than they do. I think Pompey can take them.

Great to comment on something other than the saga of the last few days.. Liverpool Away ... Could it be any harder? Can't see us getting anything from this one and I just pray that we don't get thumped as it could have long term effects on team morale and we have a number of winnable league games coming up that we need the points from. A respectable, hard grafting, injury free 2-0 defeat will do me.. anything better than that and I'll be well happy ..

Yes realistically we were looking to beat Fulham & Wigan at home & the defeat at Anfield wouldn't seem so bad. But things are never as they seem & when HR left first time round our 2nd or 3rd game was at Liverpool & we got a 1-1 draw when Lua Lua scored in the last minute.

I thought we showed some naivety against fulham as we should have killed the game off at 1-0 but left ourselves too open. We needed to do the boring thing and out man them in midfield, the same as what we need to do against lfc tomorrow from the start to have a chance, even if it means sacrificing a forward. Its not pretty but then neither are our backroom staff!

Yes a bit niave against Fulham, time for the management to quickly learn. Here, I'd rather have no injuries & look to take 3 pts against Wigan.

With Torres missing we have a better chance. I am not confident, but maybe we could scrap out a draw.

Its nice for Tony to have a nice easy game to start! I think Sol is still injured, which is bad news. The way Liverpool are going I'm not confident at all, but I'd love Crouchie to score at least - I'll be happy with a good performance whatever the result. (As long we avoid another Citeh scoreline.)
