Scunny - Fratton Park - 13th January

Well, 2018 didn't start the way we would have wanted - when it was in fact within five minutes of being a dream one - as Pompey were beaten at Bristol Rovers.

It's been a long wait since but a return to action will see current play off rivals Scunny, themselves eyeing an automatic promotion spot, the latest threat to our bid to keep back-to-back promotions on track.

A win isn't a must, it certainly shouldn't be expected as a given, but should we react positively to a defeat last time round - technically two in a row given the Checkatrade Trophy loss against Chelsea - it keeps a play off push on track and is encouraging to overcome a rival for this and a strong side at that.

Had this been away I'd happily take a point, which wouldn't be too bad. However, with home advantage I would hope we can make up for the lost points in Bristol to keep a pretty good run of form going - it'll be an expectant Fratton Park I'd think.

Again, I think we'll continue to miss Rose but am hopeful Ronan can step up as he's highly thought of at Wolves - I see him more as a no.10 type player though - and play his part in inspiring a Blues win.

Got a good feeling about the weekend... then again I usually do ahead of most games and never learn.

Thoughts also available front pages now on link above.

Game day, still get excited by this even if I'm not going, which I'm again NOT today. Makes three in a row I've not been to at Fratton. However, cousin is taking his little boy again who has seen two wins out of two using it over Chrimbo... hat trick today?!

Obviously, having been in a winning position, Saturday's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe could well feel like two points dropped for Pompey, couldn't it?

Two points dropped or one gained? Clearly from a winning position this has to be seen as two dropped. However, in all honesty, I think most of us would have taken a point against a very good Scunny side, right?

Nathan Thompson's performance was seen as the best one from a Pompey player against Scunthorpe last Saturday.

The MotM round up poll basically concludes this Scunny thread... well, unless you have anything else to add?!
