A hamstring injury, picked up in training last week that saw him miss the Crawley game with Evans filling in nicely at right back to be fair, will keep Talbot out for six-eight weeks.

Drew Talbot probably wouldn't have been expected to play for Pompey again by many, certainly not against Rochdale. However, he did, in two different positions as the afternoon wore on.

Think he could yet have a career at Fratton - probably not a first team regular but a decent squad player.

There's been occasions where defensively Pompey have had problems this season - those we now have are due to the mounting injury issues in central defence. In fact defence full stop.

We have all had players over the years - I would think we can safely Drew Talbot is the modern day one for many - for some reason we just cannot take too.

Can Talbot 'win over' the boo boys? Personally I'm not convinced. His confidence looks shot and the more mistakes he makes the worse things seem to get for him.

I do feel sorry for him - yes, he's had a rough patch - as he's far from the worst player we've seen, in fact he isn't a bad footballer but it isn't going for him. But as many have turned on him there's probably no way back.

Earlier this week - which isn't something I've managed to get to due to work commitments, a Christmas do and the time of year in general - Pompey confirmed the exit of Drew Talbot.

Well, not exactly a surprise to see Talbot leave is it? Good luck to him at a new club, surprised it didn't work out for him at Fratton Park as he's had a decent career playing at various levels.

Chesterfield stepped straight in so obviously deal had been done in advance.

Good luck Drew

Indeed it was Dave.

Second that, wishing him well and still feel, far from great for us, he was very harshly treated at times.
