Pompey Predictions League - update table no.19

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Well Pompey got the same as every predictor after a dour, pathetic performance where The November fight by four predictors for the monthly honours was closer than our two Pompey players.

Langston (25 points) saw off Frippy, Wife of Wiggy and Jim Smith's Wig (all with 20) in a four way tussle. Wife of Wiggy almost had it until Stevenage scored, but then, like the day itself, it all went downhill.

December has four games as take a break after the FA Cup home debacle.......so we can all Ho Ho Hope for some Pompey success as we head towards Christmas.

Pompey Predictions League - update table no.20

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Grimsby proved to be stubborn resistance until Naismith curled in a 25 yard winner in the 86th minute. The sighs of relief came from all Pompey fans, but none more so than the two daughters, Morgan and Daughter of Wiggy, who bagged maximum points from the Naismith strike.

Daughter of Wiggy opens up a 20 point gap on the rest of the field, while Steaming joins Langston in 2nd place.

I put in the game prediction thread that this home game would be the perfect opportunity for Cook to show attacking flair and get the fans into the Holiday spirit. I listened to a woeful and inept display that, to be honest, I wish I had been Christmas shopping during, we never looked like scoring.

I brought up my comments on that thread, because I ended it by saying we are Pompey, it is Cook and we would probably end up 0-0, which is what we did. Had I listened to my own grave prediction, I would have been the second player with points. As it was, Wife of Wiggy was the only benefactor with 20 points.

Daughter of Wiggy still heads the table by 20 points, with Langston in second place, while Steaming and Jim Smith's Wig follow closely behind in joint third.

Pompey Predictions League - update table no.22

The result flattered Pompey to be honest, who didn't start playing until they'd dug themselves a deep hole and just enough time to climb out of. Predictors are maintaining their loyalty to the cause by largely predicting Pompey wins, so all in all, a good Boxing Day out.

Not much movement in the league as most people backed Pompey to beat the bottom club, though Daughter of Wiggy did increase her lead by 5 points and both Jim Smith's Wig and Steaming halved the gap between themselves and Langston.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.23

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

A trip to the West Country to see out the year saw us grab a point in a dour affair for those that could see past the half way line. Luckily no injuries or farcical decisions affected the game, and the way the stats looked, a draw seemed fair.

Wife of Wiggy grabbed her second perfect score of the month and won the monthly compo with 40 points. Morgan was the only other beneficiary with 5 points.

Overall, Daughter of Wiggy remains 25 points clear with Langston joined by Wife of Wiggy in second place. Jim Smith's Wig and Steaming lie a further 5 points back.

A New Year sees a big home match up against high flying Luton, so who will you put your Hatter on?

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.25

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Pompey were on form, the stage was set and the ref blew the whistle...lights, camera, inaction. Well, at least inaction from the Pompey defence, as Marquis could have swung a litter full of cats in the space he had to head the first goal home. Despite a well taken equalizer from Naismith and a plethora of corners which resembled our old late-70s style of; get a corner and mess it up, we looked a poor reflection on the team we thought we were becoming. The 3-1 scoreline showed that Donny have the capability to win the league as the best opposition we've faced.

With the marked upturn in defensive prowess recently, many were confident of a Pompey win or at least a draw. However, like so many before them, the many were left with nothing to show for their optimism, leaving just two players with a 5 point gain, Blue Exile and Langston who barely dented the lead of Daughter of Wiggy at the top, but cemented his second place standing.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.26

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Over 2/3 of the possession, 18 shots (4 on target) to 3 (1 on target) and a missed penalty - must be Pompey, I hear you cry, and as repetitive as a nagging mother-in-law, Pompey made hard work of a team that others have blown away with ease. We'll take the three points overall, because prior to the game I had considered predicting a draw as Hartlepool memories were in my head.

Morgan, Ibizan Blue and Trina all guessed correctly that we wouldn't walk all over Orient, and gained the maximum points. Only Wife of Wiggy and a few non-predictors failed to benefit from what many considered a gimme. In the table, Daughter of Wiggy still leads by a mile with Langston remaining in second place. These two are the only ones in triple figures. Morgan climbs out of nowhere to join Jim Smith's Wig and Steaming in third place. 5 of the top 6 places are filled in by two families.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.29

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

I watched Tulsa last night play ice hockey - they took 51 shots and didn't score. It was like watching Pompey this season. A brilliant start, scoring within 90 seconds, followed by 90 minutes of boredom, before a last minute Naismith effort sealed the points. To get the fans going, an ugly win won't suffice, however, the three points will.

The Naismith goal kept the compo going strong, as a 1-0 scoreline would have put Daughter of Wiggy over 50 points clear. As it is, the top two stay the same, while the chasing pack got to three figures and a fourth member joined them as Dorking Pompey got max points.

Along with Dorking, two other players, Son of Wiggy and USPF boosted their positions, while only Trina and Wife of Wiggy failed to get any points at all. Roll on Blackpool on Tuesday, who had a good away win today.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.30

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

A second game where we went deep into injury time before securing the three points, but no moaning today as Pompey celebrated a second consecutive victory and E Doyle secured his first goal for the Blues.

A major relief for Rug, who posted his first correct score line for the season and jump over Trina in the standings. Dorking Blue was the only other person to guess the 2-0 score and he jumps into second place overall, currently amassing 40 points this month already. Daughter of Wiggy stays top with 150 points, while Langston drops to 3rd place (deservedly so, after he was heard wishing Blackpool would secure a late equalizer seconds before Doyle's winner).

Barnet fans might be celebrating too as Pompey have only gone 3 wins on the bounce, once this season, so let's see what happens on Saturday.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.31

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

After two games where injury time goals made the three points safe, with second goals, it took a 90th minute wonder strike from Connor Chaplin to save a point against Barnet. The game itself was another dour performance in front of away support that surpassed the home fans and deserved better. That said, gritty performances occasionally need to be recognized.

Wife of Wiggy got 5 points for her traditional 0-0 score line, while only Langston got the maximum points. He closed the gap on Daughter of Wiggy to 15 points as he reclaimed second place and suddenly we have a chase back on. Dorking is a further 15 points away in third spot.

Dorking still holds the top spot in the monthly compo with 40 points, while Langston joined Khodgkins on 30 points, while 4 players sit on 25.

A long road trip to Carlisle awaits next Saturday, but the predictions are just a click away...

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

A long trip up North heralded possibly the best result of the season with a resounding 3-0 success against Carlisle. After knocking him for weeks, I will give Cookie the credit for changing his system to meet the needs of the game. The switch to 3-5-2 enabled Pompey to carve up the hosts and the score could have been wider.

There is a reason good predictors are at the top. 4 of the top 5 picked up points this week, whereas many mid table players went for the draw or a home win (myself included). The places stay the same with Daughter of Wiggy extending her lead over Langston.

Tuesday will see the end of the monthly compo and barring miracles, Dorking Blue has this in the bag with 45 points during February. Four players are on 30 points and would need a maximum to close the gap.

Unlike many, I won't bow to another capitulation as it was just the third late goal conceded by Pompey. However, our accuracy is as abysmal as my own predicting this season.

Dasha and Wife of Wiggy were the only players to grab points, and both secured a maximum return. Both females launched into the top 8 overall, making it now 4 females and 4 guys in the top positions, which just goes to show that all is even in the battle of the sexes. Another key fact is that 2 families have 3 members each in that top bracket.

February was won by a 45 point haul from Dorking Pompey, a tally that saw him launch an attack on the top of the table.

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Two homes games where the vast majority of fans would have good reason for expecting 6 points, resulted in a solitary point from the late defensive error midweek. Today we never looked like scoring and their keeper probably doesn't have to take his kit to the cleaners he had so little to do.

Promotion hopefuls we are not, if we continue to play this way, but should we open a competition up and add bonus points for which excuse Paul Cook will use after each game. Dismal beyond compare and an atrocious return for the fans that paid to watch both games

Not surprising that no one scored any points and therefore the positions are unchanged. Let's see what another midweek game can do for us on Tuesday.

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Pompey regained their pride somewhat after the Crewe disaster, with a strong performance at Crawley, taking them into third place in the league.

The predicting faithful stuck with Pompey for the main part with almost half of the league gaining points. Dorking Pompey achieved maximum points, maintaining a hot streak from February, and taking second from Langston. Dorking is only 15 points behind Daughter of Wiggy who has stalled recently.

Ms Lorna achieved only her second maximum of the season, while Jim Smith's Wig makes up the trip of Tuesday perfectionists.

On the road again at Colchester on Saturday, so lets look at closing the gap on Plymouth. PUP

Hats off to the team for a great result at Colchester and it was nice to see Doyle getting the opener. Not surprisingly, no one guessed the romp would occur, so a hatful of 5 pointers for the majority of posters.

Langston slipped to his lowest position of the season in joint 3rd, as Jim Smith's Wig joined him, but other than that it is almost a case of as you were. Daughter of Wiggy heads Dorking Pompey by 15 points.

Next up is another midweek game as Grimsby head to Fratton Park. Let's hope our away form can be reproduced on the South Coast.

Another rampant display by Pompey saw them equal their Colchester exploits by finally performing at home to the delight of over 16000 fans again. A six point gap has opened as results around us went our way.

Dasha was the only person to get maximum points as she forecasted the 4-0 demolition, though everyone else apart from Frippy and Wife of Wiggy picked up 5 apiece. Dasha moves into 5th place, but the top places remain unchanged.
