Pompey Predictions League – update table no.38

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Wrong tactics, wrong formation and wrong mindset against a team brimming with confidence says everything about Pompey in this game. To be fair to Cook I won't jump on the bandwagon again, but just say we were thrashed by the better team today.

Frippy was the only point scorer, having sacrificed himself recently by predicting losses in the hopes that superstition would give Pompey a winning streak.

Daughter of Wiggy still leads Pompey Dorking with Jim Smiths Wig and Langston tied in 3rd.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.39

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Newport's late consolation goal may not have affected the result of the game, but it dealt a blow to Dorking Pompey who saw a perfect score disappear, and with it, the chance to join Daughter of Wiggy at the top of the table.

With the top 9 all getting 5 points, there is no change at the top. The only maximum points went to Trina.

The game also saw an end to March madness and three players ended up with 35 points: Jim Smiths Wig, Langston and MsLorna.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.40

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Another strong Pompey performance and a win that keeps a safe distance between them and Stevenage.

Dorking Pompey and Steaming got it spot on and that means Dorking does join Daughter of Wiggy at the top of the table after he was spurned of that chance in the Newport game.

Steaming jumps into 4th place in the race for the minor placings.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.41

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Nothing fancy, but another 3 points in the bag and another 3-win sequence. That was the story of the home game against Yeovil, and League 2 will sorely miss the 17,000 crowds that Pompey bring, next season, as we hopefully have found the form to leave the bottom flight.

Wife of Wiggy was the only top 15 player to miss out on points, while Frippy, down in 16th, maintained his sacrificial predicting of a Pompey defeat also recorded a duck egg.

Trina was the only maximum scorer and moved ahead of Rug once again, as the only change in the overall placings.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.42

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

A great advert for League 2, saw the Dockside Derby end in stalemate. However, the fireworks went off in the compo as the chasing pack had a very Good Friday indeed.

Jim Smith's Wig and Langston both closed the gap with maximum points and turned, what seemed to be a one-girl show a few games ago, into a 4-horse gallop to the end. Jim Smith's Wig sits just 10 points behind the joint leaders, while young Langston harbours dreams, a further 10 points back in 4th.

Two other players achieved top score as both Blue Exile (6th) and USPF (8th) also closed the gap on the minor placings.

Notts County on Monday could seal Pompey's promotion, but it could well produce another result that will turn the compo into a frenzy.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.43

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

Pompey got to taste the Highs and Lowe's at Meadow Lane as 2 late strikes gave us the points that let us kiss League 2 goodbye. In what was a nervy middle of the game, Pompey seemed to spring into life late on and pushed a tiring County defence over.

I would like to add a word of congrats to the home team, who apparently contacted Pompey and asked what music they could play if promotion occurred. The club also allowed the 4450 fans time to enjoy the success in what looked to be amazing scenes.

On to serious matters and the leading 2, Dorking Pompey and Daughter of Wiggy increased their lead over the chasing pack by banking on a Pompey success. Jim Smith's Wig and Langston both chose the draw, while Blue Exile went for a home win as the chasing players look to find alternative scores to close the gap, knowing that Dorking has gone 2-0 and daughter of Wiggy 1-0 almost throughout the season.

Rug jumps on top of Trina in a topsy turvy private battle in mid table as Rug was the only maximum point scorer today.

On the final monthly compo, USPF leads on 35 points, while the chasing pack on 30 points includes Blue Exile, Rug, Dorking Pompey and Jim Smith's Wig.

With 3 games to go this season, 2 in April, we have both competitions in a critical phase and lots to play for.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.44

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

The promotion party began before kick-off at Fratton Park, but although the Blues secured some good attacking play, promotion hopefuls kept themselves alive with a late consolation goal. Many thought the Abbey Road side would spoil the party but they were disappointing in the first half.

Seven of the top 8 achieved 5 points so the table hasn't changed. The key difference is that only the top 4 have any chance of winning, though Langston is hanging on by his finger nails. Dorking and Daughter of Wiggy share the lead with Jim Smith's Wig still 10 points back in 3rd spot. Ibizan Blue left it late, but secured the only maximum score.

The monthly competition rolls on and USPF leads a posse on 40 points.

Pompey Predictions League – update table no.45

Over to uspompeyfan with the next update to the game in the 2016-17 season...

It took 45 games, but no one can say we didn't have a 12th man on Saturday, and he was dressed in black. One could almost feel bad for the home side, but we've been on the receiving end enough, so we'll take the 1-0 win, and who knows, in a few days, with that luck, we might even steal the title.

Daughter of Wiggy achieved a maximum score when it mattered after wobbling a little. With Dorking and daughter of Wiggy showing the same score predictions for almost the whole season, it may already be too late for Dorking. It will take a perfect score and Daughter of Wiggy to guess it completely wrong to sneak a win. A tie would need a Dorking correct score.

6 people shared the monthly win, with 40 points. Rug will have to select between: Daughter of Wiggy, Dorking Pompey, Jim Smith's Wig, Ibizan Blue, USPF and Rug himself.

Looking forward to the last game of the season, it has been great to do the weekly updates and I hope to see everyone predicting a League 1 campaign in August.

Play Up Pompey

Ibizan Blue - In all fairness, Rug puts the compo together, I just get to update it through the season. Writing the extra copy, is from a US based perspective with just Pompey Player and a match-day Virtual Fratton End to work with for basing the mini-write ups.

Rug does a lot with the site, so any help I can offer is merely to support his efforts.

No, ibizanblue is right USPF, I know how much time and effort it takes to do what you do on your side and is appreciated.

Appreciated that you appreciate my efforts too though, thanks. But it's ALL on Vital Pompey that make it what it is and the site is showing VERY GOOD growth again in the past few months, fingers crossed this continues and those posting continue to do so, as do some of the returning names no and again along with, crucially too, some newbies.
