Linvoy Primus has spoken to pfcTV to clarify comments that were attributed to him recently, clarifying that 'they were taken out of context' and that he does not see his footballing career anywhere else other than 'his home' at Fratton Park: 'everything has been taken out of proportion concerning where I feel my future lies.
'I've always said that I have to concentrate on my knee first and make sure that is right - then the contract takes care of itself.
'So there are no thoughts about me having played my last game for Pompey or that my future might lie elsewhere.
'I have a fitness programme which is going nicely and on schedule and that now is the focus.
'I feel the club have looked after me well, twice sending me out to America to the Steadman Clinic to give me the best possible treatment.
'I believe the club has shown faith in me - and I'm very grateful for that as this is the first club I've played for that feels like home.
'I have a house nearby and when my football eventually finishes I want to be living in it for life.
'This is the place where I want to be. I'm grateful for the support the fans give me - so the next time I run out I want it to be in a Pompey shirt'.
Having read what he had said, and given it some thought the club have gone to the trouble to get him the best treatment that they can - and Richard Steadman is the best of the best - so would they really have done this just to release him at the end of his contract for someone else to benefit? Would he carry on playing if we did release him?
If he is fit to carry on - and I have no doubts at all that he will - maybe on reflection I should have let me heart rule my thinking more than my head, as I am thinking more along the lines now that it is more likely than not that Primus will actually get a new contract now...
Maybe I am being too sentimental or even 'naive' with my thinking though?
