Baros is up for the fight

Baros is up for the fight

Milan Baros - who I think linked up pretty well with Jermain Defoe considering they had only trained together once prior to the game at the weekend - is continuing to say the right things.

Baros knows that with Defoe, Dave Nugent - when fit, Kanu and Utaka for competition it will not be easy for him to be a regular starter, but whilst he admits that he does not expect to start every game he is not here to sit on the bench either so he is prepared to fight for his place as he told pravo, which I assume is a Czech paper: 'I have played just two games. I know all my new teammates but we are not attuned so far. That will come soon.

'We are not at our full strength yet - players are still at the Africa Cup of Nations.

'Competition will be large, but they have not bought me to make me sit on the bench. I have never been afraid of competition.

'I know it will not be easy. I don't expect to play in every single game'.

As said Baros continues to say the right things, and as also said I think that his partnership with Defoe looked promising enough at the weekend - yep it needs more work but that will come the more they train, and play together.

Harry Redknapp has plenty of options at his disposal, so this is a headache for him, but what a fantastic headache to have eh fellas! What fantastic striking options we have, when for so long we were very limited...

He did a really good job on Defoe's goal, i didn't see the full game, so i can't really talk, but what a strong player, On Defoe's goal he resisted at 2 Chelsea defender to make his head..... I thnik with the little Defoe, the Strong Baros will be perfect....

Was at the game and thought Baros's first touch was not great. Hopefully this was just because he has not played much and will improve the more he plays and gets used to the players around him. Nice attitude though, so keep it up!

The only fight Barros has to worry about is getting & staying fit. Providung HR wants 2 up front, he'll play every game given that.

i dont think that baros' touch has ever been that great, i think he is a 50:50 player on that score, but some of his touches were outstanding, when he got it right he got it very, very right. th 'should have been penalty' touch was sublime. so long as baros stays fit - as matt says a 'possible' problem - his partnership with defoe 'should' get better and better.

Beginning to look a top signing already and looks to from a partnership with JD. Happy times ahead!!

After a poor showing against manu he looked very good partnered with defoe, but so did the entire team that night, I think everyone is getting a little carried away, we had one good game. I do like Baros' attitude, it good that he doesnt expect to start every single game, he will want to perform well to earn his spot and we will need that from him.

To be honest (as a former non Defoeist) I was more excited about Baros arriving than Jermain. I don't think Baros have ever really hit his potential at the club level and believe he could do so with some hard work, with us. He has a ways to go conditioning wise and still looks a bit heavy, but he certainly sounds motivated enough. I also think our style of play (once we have Muntari back, particularly) is well suited to his game. You really have to hand to Arry for getting in 3 players of this calibre during the window. Exciting days indeed.

Baros will never outscore Defoe but his head down barge forward style wil upset defences and leave openings for Defoe and other players to score. His main opposition will be from Nugent who can play the same type of games and also has wider vision but may not be as strong. Utaka will improve as Baros will also steer defenders away from Utaka and give him more room to run out wide.

he seemed to give effort on saturday that almost matched the kings, so if that continues, he cant eb bad for us!

I think he is a class act and we have done well to score the players we did in the WINDOW, however on the down side we slammed the DOOR in Benjani's face.

MotM in poor Notts County show...Cambridge next

There wasn't too much to cheer from the Notts County defeat was there, well certainly not the 2nd half at Fratton Park but one plus was seen as Amine Linganzi for Pompey.
