'If It's Football, It's Vital'

This is just ridiculous now...

Seriously fellas, you could not make it up, City are again denying reports that Benjani had finally signed for the club...

A statement on the City website reads: 'Manchester City have tonight corrected press speculation that Benjani Mwaruwari has completed his transfer to the club from Portsmouth.

'Some news organisations have this evening claimed in unattributed stories that the Portsmouth striker has joined the Blues'.

Absolutely incredible!

A city spokesman also said: 'no deal has been completed. Manchester City remain in contact with the football authorities regarding this potential transfer, and any further developments will be announced first on'.

Fellas, I just give up now to be honest...

I will not be writing anything further on this issue, even when it 'happens' - if it ever does - I do not think I can cover this again, I am tired with saying my goodbye's only to find it is not actually goodbye after all... saying once that he was gone to find out he had not was fantastic, for a while, twice is just ridiculous.

So as said I do not think I will be covering this topic again, as this is becoming more and more farcical as time goes by - unbelievable...

Maybe we should pay the mancs money to take him as we obviously are putting them out.
Man City hiarachy have said they don't want Benji. Sven has said he definately wants him. That will cause a rift. The FA have ordered Man City to complete the transfer. Another rift. Benji has issued a statement to the African press that he has completed the transfer and is now a Man City player. Defoe is a loan only until Benji's transfer is complete then it can be made permenant. This seems a bit off line with the rules. More rifts in the future unless the rules are clarified. What a mess!!
the whole thing has been one long joke since the story broke. i applaud your commitment there rug, because i would have given it up days ago
sorry again for saying the deal was 'done' only for citeh to again deny it - this time, despite what there statement reads it is done i have been told that 2 citeh officials have confirmed this, it just seems they want to announce it before anyone esle, and 'should' do it tomorrow... either way its an absolute joke now - i just hope that we havent let the mancs shaft us...
i just hope everyone sees it that way linvoy - some could see it as this site being 'a joke too' and might not think it a very 'crediable place', but i would hope not...
Maybe that signed photo I received Rug might just be a Pompey Player afterall !!
Rug... Don't worry about the credibility of the site mate... you have done a geat job keeping us all up to date with the latest and no matter what the next twist is I think most will look to Vital Pompey to get the 'full' picture.. the advantage you have is that you don't represent just one view.. you can take your info from whatever source you feel is reporting the correct stuff at the right time.. if anything your reporting has enhanced the reputation of Vital Pompey not damaged it...
ONLY JOKING.... I just couldn't resist a wind up..
I don't believe it ....... NewsNow have just broken a story that Newcastle want to scupper the Defoe deal as they feel that 'inaccuracies' in the paperwork invalidate BOTH transfers....
cheers Chix - apprecited... typical that this scenario should pan out the way it has today of all days! i was going through me old emails today and i found one from sometime ago - after an article had been written and submitted about nugent - and the fella was saying, what a joke vital pompey was and so on and so forth... this was not long after i had tkaen over, so i told him to be fair and that was all in the past. anyway, i emailed him today and said to him 'so what are your views on vital pompey now then mate' basically, ive had now reply, but i bet i will in the morning :-) you've gotta laugh havent you!
that would have been funnier - and i did believe you as i checked - if the comments you put had gone on in the right order... sometimes it does that, i dont know why but a comment you write secondly goes on after the 1st one, strange really...
were you testing the theory to see if it jumbled the order?
Interesting article from the guys over at Who Ate All The Pies - the other football blog I read: Click Me
citeh will announce this deal shortly - they want to be the ones to do it, and threw a 'paddy' as it was leeked last night... they have also got the price down from the original '9m' apparently agreed - but it isnt half the amount as being suggested... still i think they've done us, and we bowed to them...
Rug you are doing a great job, treading a center line. Surely Pompey would know if the Benji transfer was complete, why do we have to wait on Man City proclamations.
Because they know we're desperate for the money for Defoe and that Benji can't come back and play for us. They've got us under ransom and it's a fantastic way of improving relations following all of the hostility between us and Citeh.

That last bit was sarcasm if you didn't get it.
thanks 007... citeh want to be the 'official' bringers of good news - for them - bad news - for us, they didnt like the thought of 'anyone else' doing this... im still disappointed thay we have pampered to them and accepted a 'lower fee' just to avoid more negative press, but what can you do - so long as we do get the 7.6m that we 'should'...
Several sites on NewsNow are reporting the deal has been done at a reduced fee of 3.87m. I reckon we've been tucked up and the whole thing, including the Defoe deal, is about to come undone.
Rug, you can only report what is out there in terms of news - this is still a big story, and I for one am desperate to see it resolved. I think NinjaTim is right and the whole thing will come undone. As long as we keep Defoe (even if on loan) till the summer (when permanent deal can be sorted) I think it will all be OK, but we shouldn't let Benjani go for peanuts. Better he comes back, he's still loved at Fratton.
Just read a couple of the news now articles stating Benji was in the "sale" are- No geographical puns intended for the Ato Z of manK-shire- I will be very *****sed off if these turn out to be true. Benjii at 9ml is very good, 7.5 is fair but 3.45m is an insult
plymouth graham
One must remember that "HR" tried to sell the Benji sale to the fans by claiming he had doubled the original amount paid, and that was good business. "HR" should now tell us what has been accepted and whether he still thinks it good business.
HR HAS GOT WHAT HE DESERVES HALF THE PRICE (3.875 MILLION TO BE PRECISE) AFTER HE WAS TRYING TO CON US ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK. People will have to get up a bit earlier to try and pull one over Sven !!!
Sod off alphieblues, since when does HR decide on the price. Anyway, let's see the 'dirty money' of yours.
alphieblues, it is citeh that have screwed us over - but in all fairness we have allowed you... ive been told that the premier league said that citeh 'had' to pay the orginally agreed fee but as pompey 'didnt want any more negative publicity - a fight for the money' they agreed to sell cheaper... considering we have sold him for 3.87m god only knows what the 'original' price was, it 'cannot' have been anywhere near the 9m that was reported... either way im bitterely disappointed that we have let him go for such peanuts! disgusted...
