'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What a load of rubbish...

...rubbish is not exactly the word I wanted to use, but I have to keep it clean :-)

I stumbled across this from 'another site' with it 'claimed' that it had come from The Independent... it is 'said' that Jermain Defoe - who we got - was not the only player we tried to sign from Spurs yesterday, we were also after their defender Younes Kaboul.

As far as I know Kaboul has not exactly 'set the world alight' at Spurs since a big money move, but nevertheless it is 'claimed' that Harry Redknapp is an admirer of the defender and as such he made a move for him - this is where it just gets stupid! So you may want to look away now...

It is said that we offered Sulley Muntari in a swap deal for him, but the deal fell through - seriously fellas where do they dig this stuff up?

Why the hell would we be looking to offload Muntari who will form part of a formidable midfield with Lassana Diarra when he returns from the African nations.

Totally agree PompeyRug… read this article earlier… Kaboul for Muntari!!! i wouldn’t even give them Hreidarsson for Kaboul.. Muntari is worth big money now.. can’t wait to see him and Diarra bossing the midfield.. As you said mate “Load of Rubbish” to put it mildly

i read that to. it was suggested that kabul is worth 8.5 million. i could have understood if it was one of the other lads, but to me it looks very much like you said, muntaru and diarra in midfield. who would kabul be replacing in defence, i couldnt see him being happy to sit on the bench after we dished out 8 million pounds for him. whole thing sounds like a wind up. although benjani could be playing for man citty

More to the point how was Sully Muntari going to sign the necessary paperwork to facilitate a transfer on the last day of the transfer window?

Hilarious....Muntari has already made it previously very clear that he wants to move on to a 'big' club in the future anyway...I'm sure he was thinking Manure rather than Spurs... As for a straight swap? Comedy.....

great minds think alike.. i had the exact thoughts. I knpw we were linked to the guy way before Spurs got involved, but Harry had made serious investment in tracking down muntari and persuading him to jin us

Contradictions, loyalty, honesty, what a bag of worms, anything could happen. "HR" has lost it. Mr Gaydamak will not be a happy man.

There must be someone employed by the press sat in the corner dreaming up these stories for when they run out of facts. Then they text them to web site, 606 and others to get them going. Once a rumour comes from several sources it has creedence even though as Matt says they are b0ll0x!!

This transfer period has shown that there needs to be a review of procedures to stop things happening like the Benji mess up and also so that transfer rumours just canot be conjured up. A system used in Australia and a like system used in America that could possibly be adapted to English Football, requires all clubs who have a player they want to transfer and all players who want a transfer, to be registered as such 14 days prior to the transfer period. If they are not registered by that date they can't transfer. It allows the 14 days for clubs to assess their options from the list. Then there is a further 14days to negoitiate with clubs and players. The clubs still decide what price they want or will pay and players still get to negotiate their terms. It just makes it very open and their is no deliberate disruption of clubs and players and no last minute panic. With all the technology available surely a blackberry, video link mobile phone, computer etc could be used to transmit relevant information to the FA in seconds.

while its a good idea, i think it wold take away some of the magic that is the premier league. and it wouldnt just be for english football, because our regime would affect spain and scotland and italy etc... so something this major would have ot be well thought out and planned at least 5 years in advance!

This Muntari deal sounds about equally as ludicrous as us selling Benjani to Man City to me. Or Redknapp leaving Pompey for Newcastle. Or that we would be prepared to sell Nugent to Derby a week after we signed him in the summer. I keep thinking these stories must be rubbish and then they end up being true. Thats why I didn't know what to believe when I heard the club might be up for sale yesterday.

Yeah ... and Murray Saunders took great pictures too Owens..... Come on let's be honest 90% of what we read or hear is founded on nothing .. but we are football fans and we love it....just look at the activity on this site in the last month .. we all have our say and believe each of us is right but deep down we know... Just think how boring it would be if everybody knew everything like in Frattonaussies example... Nah .. keep it as it is .. even the crap stories in the press .. it's what football is all about.. we just have to be clever enough (which generally we are) to recognise b0llicks when we see it...

frattonaussie are you talking AFL? i know league in australia is a joke. teams can talk to respectove players when ever they like now. as if better then 6 months isnt long enough to get a team together.

Point taken chix, but rubbish like the club is being sold really winds me up as that just creates unrest on the terraces and the players must wonder whats going on?

yes AFL use the system very effectively and so do a number of American sports. For football it would have to include most major football countries which could be a problem but could be overcome in time.
