What a load of rubbish...

What a load of rubbish...

...rubbish is not exactly the word I wanted to use, but I have to keep it clean :-)

I stumbled across this from 'another site' with it 'claimed' that it had come from The Independent... it is 'said' that Jermain Defoe - who we got - was not the only player we tried to sign from Spurs yesterday, we were also after their defender Younes Kaboul.

As far as I know Kaboul has not exactly 'set the world alight' at Spurs since a big money move, but nevertheless it is 'claimed' that Harry Redknapp is an admirer of the defender and as such he made a move for him - this is where it just gets stupid! So you may want to look away now...

It is said that we offered Sulley Muntari in a swap deal for him, but the deal fell through - seriously fellas where do they dig this stuff up?

Why the hell would we be looking to offload Muntari who will form part of a formidable midfield with Lassana Diarra when he returns from the African nations.

Totally agree PompeyRug… read this article earlier… Kaboul for Muntari!!! i wouldn’t even give them Hreidarsson for Kaboul.. Muntari is worth big money now.. can’t wait to see him and Diarra bossing the midfield.. As you said mate “Load of Rubbish” to put it mildly

i read that to. it was suggested that kabul is worth 8.5 million. i could have understood if it was one of the other lads, but to me it looks very much like you said, muntaru and diarra in midfield. who would kabul be replacing in defence, i couldnt see him being happy to sit on the bench after we dished out 8 million pounds for him. whole thing sounds like a wind up. although benjani could be playing for man citty

More to the point how was Sully Muntari going to sign the necessary paperwork to facilitate a transfer on the last day of the transfer window?

Hilarious....Muntari has already made it previously very clear that he wants to move on to a 'big' club in the future anyway...I'm sure he was thinking Manure rather than Spurs... As for a straight swap? Comedy.....

great minds think alike.. i had the exact thoughts. I knpw we were linked to the guy way before Spurs got involved, but Harry had made serious investment in tracking down muntari and persuading him to jin us

Contradictions, loyalty, honesty, what a bag of worms, anything could happen. "HR" has lost it. Mr Gaydamak will not be a happy man.

There must be someone employed by the press sat in the corner dreaming up these stories for when they run out of facts. Then they text them to web site, 606 and others to get them going. Once a rumour comes from several sources it has creedence even though as Matt says they are b0ll0x!!

No game but relief as Carlisle slip up, the transfer window and the return of the Grump......

On this day in history...22nd January

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 22nd January.

Pompey at Crawley called off

Pompey WILL NOT climb into the top 3 this weekend - whatever Carlisle do - as the game at Crawley has been called off.

Lalkovic heads to Ross County

In a somewhat odd move - admittedly he's not been involved that much - Pompey's former Chelsea & Walsall winger Milan Lalkovic has joined Ross County on loan.
