Benjani moves to Man City

Benjani has successfully come through his medical - as expected - so he has completed his move to Man City, for a fee reported to be £8m plus.

I am absolutely gutted that the fella has left, and I cannot believe this has happened... but it has and in all fairness we have got good money for him, particularly when you think he is 29. His work ethic however will be very hard - maybe impossible - to replace.

I will probably write more about Benjani tomorrow, as the fella deserves this even though we will have to move on and accept it - but at this point this is just clarifying things have gone through regarding his transfer being completed.

I wish Benjani all the best of luck with his new club he will always have a very, very special place in our hearts. I pray that Man City appreciate what a special player they have got and give him the patience that we did - if needed...

Defoe has a lot of ability but give me Benji any day, he was worth his place in the team even when he wasn't scoring. Doubt very much that we'd get anything like that work rate out of Defoe, if he has a barren spell and gets left out the team that would be a different story he ups his workrate when it comes to moaning about not being played. To be honest i'm getting sick of football and in particular this transfer window thing & the constant merrygoround of players. Lets go back to the fifties when players were loyal to their club and the club was loyal to them. Goodluck Benji you were a truly great Pompey player for far too short a time, hope it works out for you, i have my doubts that it will for Pompey. Sometimes i wonder whether Harry just has to do a deal for the sake of it rather than because it will improve the squad.

01:39 Manchester City's attempt to sign Portsmouth striker Benjani has fallen through. City spokesman Paul Tyrrell told his club's official website: "Due to the late arrival of the player in Manchester we were unable to complete the transfer." WHAT A TREMENDOUS STUFF UP - BEST NEWS I'VE HEARD TODAY !

I think Defoe can work for you guys particularly with Kanu and Krankear (spelling) providing the ammo to him. he needs a fresh challenge and some one to put their arm around him. when on form he is as sharp as they come. But be prepared he is not a team player and has no link up play or work rate and is constantly offside. All in all Great when scoring goals when not he is invisible.

okay sorry, in which case my bad. but still, taking on the fa cup without ur top scorer isnt a good plan. now, however, we can push forward. as rugs just said, we better get into europe to pay off the money we lost from not letting benji go!

It has been an amazing end to the transfer window, with so many signings going down to the last minute and then Benji not completing the move to MAN C. lol. Why do they always wait until the last minute? Crazy! I think the Benjani thing is good news for you though.
