Defoe completes his Pompey move?

Defoe completes his Pompey move?

Sky sports news is reporting that a deal for Jermaine Defoe has been completed - as it had some time ago, so he has signed for Pompey for a fee believed to be £9m.

He told sky sports news when waiting for the deal to go through: 'I can't wait to be honest. I want to get it done and get my boots on. I'm happy.

'For the rest of the season I want to get as many goals as possible, and most importantly get three points and just do well for Portsmouth'.

Finally Defoe has signed - I think! - after Harry Redknapp had been trying for so long to get him. I am delighted by this but as I keep saying just wish we did not need to lose Benjani as a result... although this is not yet confirmed - or is it?

Defoe is a goalscorer and that is what we need so hopefully he will justify his signing and bang in the goals to make sure our season does not fizzle out, and of course to also justify the selling of Benjani if he has gone, which he has or maybe not... this is still not clear yet, but it is unlikely one would sign without the other going.

Just when i'm coming round to it and it hasnt been confirmed yet! Will miss Benji terribly, but i've always wanted JD here, so I suppose I cant be too sad about seeing him go.

both put the paperwork through before 12 didnt they - if one falls through they both do... i may have to prepare a retraction on this article? altho it would just be easier to delete it 'if' it falls through...

How would that work rug, if the PL have both lots of paper work, say Benji's falls through for some reason, they still have JD's paperwork so they will process that, surely.

Northampton (h) - Securing home advantage?

Some could view this as a 'dead rubber!' It isn't as Champions Northampton will want to end on a high and Pompey will want 'an advantage' against Plymouth in the play-offs. Right?

Pompey MotM at Hartlepool

Pompey went into the penultimate game with a slim chance of a top 3 finish. A 2-0 win at Hartlepool saw the Blues do what we needed but wins for others ended those chances.

An emergency loan arrival of a goalie has been ruled out by the Football League but this doesn't mean a free agent cannot be signed by Pompey should a suitable option be found?
