The final hour...

The final hour...

We are now in the final hour of the transfer window, Jermain Defoe is waiting to become a Pompey player, but this cannot happen until Benjani completes his move to Man City.

Both deals should go through, but it looks as though we could be going down to the wire here... Defoe's paperwork has apparently arrived with the FA, so all has been agreed with him, however Benjani is still to undergo his medical and it could be touch and go.

I would be delighted to see Defoe 'finally' sign, but am devastated that Benjani is leaving - both deals are dependant on the other going through... so one will not happen without the other?

not quite done yet rug, the defoe paperwork has arrived at the FA but benjani SKY said 3 mins ago has only just arrived at man city training ground, this is not long enough for a full club insurance medical. The issue is we need to sell benji to raise the cash for defoe but if the benji deal runs out of time, we will have an unhappy player back at the club and so will spurs. After all that chasing it is you would think it unlikely that we would pull out of the Defoe deal but city dont want to be rail roaded by pompey, harrry and sven are not mates, so there is a small chance you may just get your wish of Defoe and Benji, this i think it would be fair to say a very satisfactory outcome.

as i say tho russ - defoe deal complete, we just need conformation on benji deal - its going to be touch and go... as you say tho we'll have *****ed off players at both sides if all goes belly up...

if a fee has been agreed surely they cant be trying to squeeze it down... we should tell them to sod off if thats the case!

why would beji be ****ed off? as far as im concerned 24 hours ago he was a proud pompey player. and ill be pleased if he is in 24 hours time too.

What I find weird is that Defoe agreed terms with us about 21:15. Benji didnt didnt turn up for the apparent medical till 11:10, where was he for that hour and a bit?

A late Barnet goal looked as though it would end Pompey's unbeaten run but Conor Chaplin proved the saviour when he scored a last minute equaliser to earn a point in a 1-1 draw.
