Diop heads home

Diop will return to a different Pompey to the one he left just a couple of weeks ago, Baros has arrived, and Benjani seems to be heading North with Defoe replacing him.

Still, a bit of muscle returns to our team!

Yep we can look forward to seeing Diop and Diarra (at least) play against Bolton (Chelsea too soon surely!)... Might give Matty Taylor a bit of a tough time...

My first post on vital, but I wanted to say that I am praying that Defoe Signs and Benji fails a medical or something and stays. Defoe and Benji upfront would be far far better than Baros. Mind you, I really dont want to judge Baros until he has a few games under his belt. Great news to have Papa back! PUP

Welcome Mr.Jolley, got to admit, but if Benji fails a medical I don't think Defoe will sign!

Welcome Dave. C'mon gents if Harry wants Defoe & is prepared to let Benji go, we have to trust him. Stop wearing those rose tinted glasses.

Welcome Dave - Diop is top of the poll because he gives us power and that is what we have been missing.

Welcome aboard Dave. Steady on Aussie ! Most of us don't like the idea one bit, but it's Arry's decision to make. Just hope it isn't another Cole experience. If it means he'll be playing a regular 442 at home from now on, then I suppose there is one bright spot but other than that I think it's a big mistake. Hope I'm wrong.

Am I the only one who thinks this is good businees for Pompey? Frattonaussie go drown yourself for thinking about doing anything with scum. Benji is nearly 30, how many more years will we get of him. Yes, he gives his all & scores a few but Defoe will do much better. Trust Harry.

Benji also carries so many injuries I doubt he will pass the medical.

matt: while you're right about the age advantage, I think most people just regret losing the heart & soul aspect that Benji gives us and fear what baggage the pygmy may bring with him.

jermain defoe has just left frastton park according to sky, i am switching between here, the club site complet with chinese flag and sky, leaving the dropped cup of cofee on the kitchen floor, this wiondow lark is killing me

chinese flag has been there for ages, and like i have said, its to do with the chinese website (accesible if you are in china, for variosu legal reasons (bandwidth cheaper out there...but you are techniqly only allowed to access it there too...). Defoe is ours if/when benji leaves. matt - benji is playing better than almost any other player in the premiership at the moment, and it seems so stupid to sell him, to be replaced by a player who has had just 2 starts this season.

Stop looking at Benji thru rose tinted glasses. We've said good bye to better players than him.

nah i just think sasha likes chinese food, anyway if you are a defopeist or not it doesnt matter cos he is here, he has just told sky news "i am ready to complete my portsmouth move" so love him opr hate him we now get behind him and pray he gets those golas, gols, buts, goals

oh, WTF, who cares? we have sold our last player to show any passion about playing for pompey, so who really cares what happens now?

31/01/2008 22:36:00

thats a good point pompeycarpet but i have been living with this sort of thing for 35 years, and you dont ggive up. Defoe has just been interviewwed on sky and says i quote, "its almost all done it will be anounced on the club web site soon as long as my medical is clear its good, i just want to get my boots on and score goals for portsmouth" and sky have also anounced a work permit has been reissued for benji to man city

31/01/2008 22:40:00

but to bhe perfectly honest russellm, i thought pompey were past the stage of selling players for money. i thought we were getting more preffesional in the way we did things. how can we dump benji like this? last season, we had 3 players that ran defences into the ground, you could bank on for giving 100%, an played with passion. now we have none. this is hardley a step forwards

Don't want to bring up more comparisons with Cole, but, remember all the Geordies harking on at Keegan "we are a buying club now Kev, not a selling club" Keegan just said trust me, and then in comes Shearer

not quite T4, the defoe paperwork has arrived at the FA but benjani SKY say has only just arrived at man city training ground, this is not long enough for a full club insurance medical. The issue is we need to sell benji to raise the cash for defoe but if the benji deal runs out of time, we will have an unhappy player back at the club and so will spurs.

Well I hope they get on with it...I've wasted an entire work day following this story, and I'm self employed ! (at least I can get away with calling him a gnashing pygmy for the next couple of hours can't I...won't even bother with the short jokes !)

Diop will be welcomed back, i reckon that we did miss him, and if he is fit for the game tomorrow he should play and get to grips with Ballack as he would appear to be pulling all the strings for them.
