Teams - United v Pompey

Teams - United v Pompey

This is the United line up:

Edwin Van der Sar
Wes Brown
Rio Ferdinand
Nemanja Vidic
Patrice Evra
Nani
Paul Scholes
Michael Carrick
Ji-Sung Park
Cristiano Ronaldo
Wayne Rooney

Substitutes
Tomasz Kuszczak
Owen Hargreaves
Anderson
John O'Shea
Carlos Tevez

Sol Campbell - back from injury, Sean Davis and Milan Baros - for his debut - all came in with Hermann Hreidarsson, Pedro Mendes and Dave Nugent making way, all bar Nugent to the bench - but he is injured anyway. This bench was looking threadbare!

So we line up like this:

David James
Glen Johnson
Sol Campbell
Sylvain Distin
Noe Pamarot
Lauren
Sean Davis
Lassana Diarra
Niko Kranjcar
Milan Baros
Benjani

Substitutes
Begovic
Hermann Hreidarsson
Arnold Mvuemba
Richard Hughes
Pedro Mendes

im not watching the box yet but i'd still think this is possbily 4-5-1, with benji on the right and lauren adding strength in the midfield?

true davis will do better - its just i expected us to go 4-5-1, without baros and with hughes... (althouh i also expected mendes to start as he has ben in great form!)

same ere, but I think harry wanted milan to start, and last week agaisnt plymouth, when davis came on, he tightned things up great.

i guess it could be 4-5-1, and lauren could shadow ronaldo...or just add to further depth in that area...

What do we hope for from the rest of the season?

There seems to be a lot of unhappiness around, despite a pretty decent season in my opinion. Well, certainly our best season in a long while.

Debut delight...kind of!

It wasn't a result, and in many ways a performance, for Sheff United loanee Freeman to remember too fondly as he didn't really have a great game against Orient? Then again who did!

Tubbs has left the building

Tubbs has finally left Pompey; perhaps his destination is something of a surprise then again there had been some 'rumours' recently of an Eastleigh interest.
