Pompey to catch Spiderman?
As we move into the final throws of the transfer window it is being 'reported' in Spain that we are still trying to tie up a deal for Real Mallorca's Jonas 'Spiderman' Gutierrez - with it 'claimed' that we will complete his signing by midnight tomorrow.
We have been tracking Gutierrez for some time now, at least since the summer - but it is said that we have been doing so for a year - and usually when we track someone for long enough we get them, as we showed with Sulley Muntari and John Utaka to name but a couple.
It is said that and offer of €10m - £7.5m - will see us get the Argentinean international.

It would make the positions up front interesting 'if' he came. You could see Kanu & Utaka going in the summer & even Benji if Juve came in with a good offer!

'if' he dos sign i think it would be good for us, we could play spiderman on the right and shift utaka up front if needed - altho tbh i still have this feeling that utaka will leave in the summer anyway... benji is the 1 constant up front, will he play with baros, nuge, utaka or kanu only time will tell 'if' spiderman signs...

I cant wait to see it on Match of the day, we'll be moved to the first slot as opposed to the last, and everytime Spiderman hits the ball, the picture will freeze and a bubble will appear containing the words "POW", "PHWOOR", "CRACK" lol bring fun back to football. Only concern is when he dons his mask does he shoot his sticky stuff over the fans lol.

Don't get too excited about this mask - a quick look at the Real Mallorca website show me he has played 16 games this season and scored NO goals.

His mums had her say on Spanish radio -apparently his agent..Pompey have had a bid in since January 16th..

I had just spotted the same story ycm you got here first. Seems to add credence to stories that he is already in this country discussing terms. Now hands up who would appoint their mum as their agent?

I originally read this story on a Mallorca newspaper site. My Spanish being as pathetic as it is, the best I could make out was that the teams were in heated last minute negotiations. It sound like a pretty sweet deal, but then you have to figure someone else will be moving on in the result. Sean Davis maybe ? (...don't get too excited just yet Russelm !).

I really don't know the fella to pass judgement at all. Could potentially be a great signing but the success rate of South Americans in the Premiership is pretty poor so like Utaka it could be another £7m waste.

I also hears it could be at the expense of Sean Davis, alledgedly he is off to Bolton or 'boro for £4m to finance it.
If he goes its another Englishman out of the club, and I'm sorry I don't want to watch a team of total foreigners, as long as we have 3 or 4 I'm happy

I just read on 606 that SSN have linked us with Charlton's Jerome Thomas. Seems a bit of a wild rumour as I doubt Harry would go down the Championship route after Nugget.

Is it true that Sean Davis ran around waving to all the Pompey fans after the Ipswich game? That would seem to suggest he might be on his way. Don't want him to go now, I've really warmed to him this season.

we have been tracking the player for a year (i remember the links last januarry), so he is clearly an impressive player. i doubt utaka will leave, as he will want to make his mark on the premiership, AND continiue to play alongside kanu. BUT, i doubt seun davis will be leaving, it just seems completly unreasnable!

Playing 16 matches with a mask down yer pants is no incentive to whip it out and pull it over your nose and mouth! No wonder he's not scoring!!!!!!!!!!

Utaka needs to played upfront before we can fully judge him, and I cant see us trading him. Gutierrez on the other hand doesnt score a lot of goals, he makes runs and gets assists, dont judge him too harshly. Him and Krunchie on the wings will make a fine duo

if sacha is going he wont fund any moves tomorrow will he - and there is no way any takeover could be ocmplete in time for transfer to be made tomorrow is there... seems and 'odd' time to sell tho doesnt it?
