No.9 wants to fire us into Europe

No.9 wants to fire us into Europe

Finally we have the no.9 we have been waiting for since the departure of Svetoslav Todorov with the arrival of Milan Baros, after it was confirmed this will be his number.

Only time will tell if he is the 'no.9' we have been waiting for but he is already saying the right things, and as he has told The News he feels he is the man to 'fire us into Europe': 'it's good to be back in the Premiership and I'm happy to be at Portsmouth. It was an easy decision for me.

'I am here to help the team and help the club achieve something.

'The dream is to get into Europe - that is most important for every player, including me.

'Everyone here wants to do that and there is not a big gap between us and the European places.

'After these next two games we will have played all of the top four clubs. Of course, it won't be easy to qualify for Europe, but we can do it'.

I have been pretty vocal in my thinking that he is a very good signing - a loan signing at that even better. A loan signing of his quality will be hard to better in the coming days, and if anyone can get a better quality player than him on loan before midnight on Thursday I would be surprised.

Baros seems likely to make his Pompey debut at Old Trafford tonight against United, he would become an instant hero if he could help us gain something there wouldn't he...

I'll be quite happy to get a draw against Chelski, having lost all 9 of our previous prem matches.

johnson and jamo SHOULD both be in the england squad, at least, and jamo SHOULD start. will baros fill toddys boots? well, they are pretty big boots to fill, but he has the potential, he just needs to ressurect his liverpool form!

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.

Liverpool goalie keen on Pompey return

Will he get this chance though? I think we could quite safely say he'll not be in the Liverpool 1st team next season and Pompey want a goalie so could this be Ryan Fulton...
