The dice aren't rolling for Nuge...

When you are out of luck, you usually see this go against you more often than not don't you?

Well Dave Nugent now faces the prospect of being sidelined for a while with it looking like he might need an operation on a hernia injury.

After picking up the injury against Plymouth at the weekend he will now fly to Germany tomorrow to see the same specialist that has treated Michael Owen in the past, and if needed will undergo surgery later in the week.

Nugent might not have exactly covered himself in glory recently when he has got the chance so many of us had hoped he would, but personally I think that he has done ok and a run of games has benefited him and he was getting better.

This is now another set-back in his career with us, but hopefully it will make him even more determined to be a success here - see I am not giving up on the fella!

ouch! this is not good for him, BUT, maybe it will allow him to settle down again, and give himself another chance to start again...

get the feeling he was about to make way for Baros, at least it has saved him being dropped again

Carpet spot on mate. Start again which will probably in the long run do him good although it will be painful at the moment. Get fit quickly David.

There goes selling him in the January window.

I dont think Harry would have sold him in the window, we would have needed him especially if Kanu is crocked. Fingers crossed for the lad, lets hope he comes back stronger and ready to prove us all wrong!!

Blind faith. If someone had come in with an offer close to what we had paid, he would have gone.

now it looks like we've lost Muntari. Just stretchered off in the Ghana game with knee injury. Harry said no more to come in in the tranfer period. He may have no choice now but to get some one else. I said 3 out and three in in this week. Three out was right but not the way I meant. 3 in still a chance. Sean Davis and Pedro can breathe more easily, Harry can't afford them to go now, and everyone else will feel easier now as well.

the info i have is that west ham were going to step up their pursuit of nuge... but with this news i think he will not be going anywhere. hopefully as carpet says he can go away, get this done and then come back knowing he has a couple of months left in the season to 'put himself in the shop window' for the summer or start doing what we all hope he can do 'be a success here'...

just trawled through the various news sites too, and i have not seen ant reference to Sully having been injured. We are now back to two strikers, so we definitely need another now unless he will use the kids

sorry guys, false alarm. I was watching pirate broadcast as no tv channel is showing it here. They said Muntari strechered off, serious injury. It was Essien strechered off according to Eurosport, and it wasn't serious. Muntari wasn't mentioned by commentators in 2nd half even though he scored. All the vision was long range and not good quality so all i could tell was they were black players and the colours they wore. I know not to use that pirate again. At least it was only $10.

phew... kanu and utaka will 'probably' be back by the weekend so that will give 1 extra striker - was going to say 2, but in all fairness they havent done much recently, so then tohught 1.5, but then settled for 1 :-)

f-oz, Sky were reporting it was Muntari aswell, but as usual, the most reliable source of info is right here!

Perhaps he's had the hernia for 6 months and that's why he's been really crap

jbaker, if we play anything other than 4-5-1 at old trafford - to start with anyway - i will be astonished tbh... im tempted to say that if we go 4-4-2 i will pay for you to go to old trafford next season - thats how confident i am...

rug, will you pay for me as well (about 1500 pounds will do it). I think we will start 442 with Benji and Baros up front. I think Aubey will get to start to.

Poor old Nuge... Hope he gets better soon ... at least this way he can take as long as Harry want's to get him fit and sharpe ... Typical innit we sign a striker and one gets injured.. we are still very light in that department now ...even with Baros

im not doubting that both benji and baros will start - i just cannot see them starting up front together in a 4-4-2... i also dont think aubey will start tbh mate, aubey - with no experience - and kranjcar, who altho he does his bit now will not offer enough protection, will be too risky against ronaldo i think, hence the selection of 'the better defender' paramount at left back.
