Quiet here today!! All the members are in the Brewers Arms probably. Really great to meet them all - more later no doubt.

ahh, back at last! worst seats in the ground, ad a dissopointing game. the result is what matters though isnt it.

(my) player round up:1) James - great game, kept us in front thoughout the second half with some excellent saves! 5) Johnson - not his best performance ever, there left back delat with him very well, and i was slightly confussed where him and lauren were playing. i think they were too! 16) Pamarot - took a while to settle, and was never as good as campbell - but still a good performance. Distin) - another ok performance, but also far from his best. caught out of position a few times. 7) Hreidarsson - our worst player (again) caught out of position numerous times, and looked to be our weak link at the back. 4) Lauren - as with GJ, he looked cnfused where he was playing. still a good performance. 30) Mendes - not as good as against derby, lacked confidence, particually in his shooting. 6) Diarra - probably our best player again. he wanted the ball, and did something with it everytime he got it. 19) Kranjcar - good going forwards, but not at his best. not the best defencive performance from him either. 10) Nugent - despite what the blokes behind me were saying, i thought he did well, and provided an extra threat, untill he was taken off, when we missed him. was he injurred? still, he chase every ball, and was unlucky not to score. just lacked a bit of confidence. 25) Benjani - also not at his best, but he chased the ball down well, but his finishing was not as good as it was against derby. 18) Mvuemba - lacked strength, slowed down a couple of counter attacks, but not a BAD performance. probably needs a loan to the championship to "toughen him up"
pompeycarpet
so basicly, a below par performance all round - as i predicted.
pompeycarpet
Thought Lauren was a waste of a player today. Nugent doesnt look like he's going to cut it to me. Didnt see what Herman did so wrong, Distin was good (although it looked like handball to me) Mvuemba is too lightweight, why did we go 4-5-1 second half? Thought Plymouth did well, their fans were as good as i have seen there this year.
pompey4me
ok, i have a couple of explanations now: nugent had a groin strain, which is whyhe came off, and (other than subotic and djezera) we have no other centre forwards (hence 4-5-1). but nugent still looked good in the first half. Herman was caught out of position quite a few times, including for there goal - so basicly, he did a lot wrong, as he is meant to be a defender. lauren did nothing WRONG, he just didnt do much right either...
pompeycarpet
and the plymoth fans filled the entire milton end. its no wonder they were so impressive, as they had twice the numbers of other away fans!!!
pompeycarpet
Lauren doesnt have the pace to play right mid. He gave the ball away lots, gave johnson too much to do, he felt he had to do both jobs. Love to see Baros arrive to ease this striker crisis.
pompey4me
Harry says Baros will be available to play against Man U on Wednesday.
Pompey Half Pint
i hope he is right, although i would expect to play 4-5-1 against them...in fact, i would be extremly surprised if we didnt...but it is important to have someone on the bench who can come in for benji when he gets tired/injurred.
pompeycarpet
What happened to Sol Campbell. I thought he was fit to play. Harry said it would be a hard game and we would need our best team.Sol wasn't even on the bench yet he is supposed to be our best defender and captain. I think we will be wishing him well with his new team this coming week.Re Baros; what Harry says and what Baros reportedly has said are very different so who knows.
frattonaussie
Baros is done deal. Monday unveiling.
stillthewhizz
f-aussie, I got a feeling that Sol is being rested. i think (may be wrong) that he will be back at man u.
pompey4me
We need Baros, he'll give a new dimension up front. Pretty poor today, Jamo kept us in the cup.
storagematt
How many times was Taylor "rested". He is being shown the door, I'll bet on it.
frattonaussie
with united coming up this wendesday then chelski next weekend - so 2 massive games in a few days - i think it was fair and just that sol was rested today... on the whole carpet i would probably agree with your assement - altho i didnt think hermann was the worse player tbh - no one was great, well bar jamo and diarra looked the nuts again, but no one was especially 'poor' altho lauren didnt really impress me - i was hoping that songo'o might have got a run out...
pompeyrug
herman - in my opinion, was just caught ou of position on too many ocasions. in the first half, i have no-idea where he disapeared too for there goal, and was generally all over the place. the second half, he was miles away, so i could really see... but i would agree that i possibly expected songo'o to come on for lauren - not seun davis. how many central midfielders did we end up with at the end?
pompeycarpet
oh, and i would have been surprised if sol had played today. he looked like he really needed a rest, particually with 2 hard games coming up!
pompeycarpet
Yeah Sol was being rested I'm sure he'll have a lot to to against Manu & Chelsea this week so I'm sure that just the case... 2-1 v Plymouth and into the 5th round... job done I'd say... bring on the scummers
