Muntari stars in Ghana win

Sulley Muntari got Ghana's African nations quest underway by scoring a screamer to ensure they won their opening game against Guinea 2-1.

We have already seen what the fella can do here - and probably had before he even arrived by seeing him play for Ghana in the past - and he did it again with a last minute 30 yard strike, having already hit the post earlier in the game, as had a couple of other Ghanaian players.

His performance saw him awarded the man of the match in a tournament in which I heard someone on the radio tipping him to star in, and not just for Ghana.

If he keeps this up then he will most likely be out in Ghana until the very end of the tournament, which will obviously be a blow to us - but great for him and the people of Ghana.

That'll double his sale price this summer. Greta strike, not too sure about the keeper!

Sure was a cracker. Watched the previous final on Eurosport last night Nigeria - Cameroon or Kanu vs Lauren. Nice to see Kanu breaking into a trot now and then.

Great goal by Sulley, mind you i hoped that they would get knocked out pretty quickly so as he could come home and play for us, never mind.

good goal... i kind of hoped they would be knocked out, but at the same time, i would never wish bad luck on pomepy players...so in reality, i hope they win it!

Just watched Nigeria v Ivory Coast - Kanu carried off, Utaka substituted with 20 mins left. Ivorians won 1-0 goal by Salomon Kalou.

I think we have to accept that Ghana are one of the favourites to win the ACN so we'll be missing Sulley for a while but if he has a good competition he'll be full of confidence when he comes back so we will benefit in the long run... as long as he's not too tired.. or god forbid gets injured

Utaka off early?, sounds familiar!

Kanu was slated for being slow & uninspiring, to be far so was most of the Nigerians. Utaka hasn't changed. Sdal;y if they don't qualify they all come home early. Ghana sadly will do will & the one player we really miss out of the 4 will be there the longest. Ok yes we miss you to Diop.
