Spanish 'Guiza' linked with Pompey

Spanish 'Guiza' linked with Pompey

At the tail end of the week Harry Redknapp was saying on the Pompey Site how a new striker would almost complete his squad for this season - and today's papers are again 'linking' us with a £5m move for Real Mallorca striker Daniel Guiza.

During the week we were 'rumoured' to be interested in both him and apparent long term transfer target Jonas Gutierrez, with it said we would make a £10m - or thereabouts - double swoop, but this was played down but Mallorca.

It is now being said that Redknapp is prepared to 'firm up' his interest by bidding £5m this week.

The Sunday papers are also once again linking us with Peter Crouch though, with a £9m offer being prepared and there is more talk about a move for Milan Baros now that Fred is apparently staying with Lyon.

Clearly money is no option for Pompey - well when it comes to paper talk anyway!

We do need a striker, and in order to get the goalscorer that we are looking for we will have to shell out another £5m - minimum - I would think, but do we have the finances to do this? I would guess that we would find this out in the coming week...

I saw this was on again but whether it is the papers digging out old rumours or real speculation who knows. HR is on record as you say over a new striker and we cannot have only one man scoring goals. Benjani would play with a broken leg but he must not be replied upon to produce,

according to the sunday papers today harry kewell is available on a free and is going to fulham... if he is on a free - which i find highly unlikely - injury problems of not lets get in ahead of fulham... its been a pretty 'quiet' day for sunday 'rumours wise'...

All you fellas keep on about needing a striker. If Utaka is played in his correct position we have four already. HR payed £13 million for two of them and the other two namely Kanu and Benji receive his continued praise. Were overloaded, we need a playmaker, watch our existing strikers then score the goals.

The press are all talking about this being a transfer mad week but in truth they have come up with nothing new of any substance.

Lots of talk, more action please. Nugent sadly ain't the answer, he is no more than a very good championship player but he is not a top ten premier league player.

Still don't know much about geeza, but his goal scoring record isn't half bad

we need a goalscorer - and that we do not have! guiz only scores one every 3 games - so is that better than we have already? guiterez is the same, and crouch and defoe dont really play enough to get a good idea of his abilities

His career average maybe 1 in 3, but last 2 seasons it has been closer to 1 in 2

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
