'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Redknapp - I'm Pompey till I die

We got back to winning ways - finally - at Fratton Park yesterday after the 3-1 win over Derby, and Harry Redknapp has told The News that so much of this was down to the crowd: 'the supporters were brilliant today too. We went a goal behind but they got behind us still.

'It was nice to here them back me too. They're a great bunch of fans'.

As we all know it looked as though he could leave us for Newcastle recently, but he stayed and in his programme notes yesterday said he was 'Pompey till I die', something which sky sports asked him about, to which he replied: 'that's right, I am official now.

'I love being here and the fans have been good to me since I came back and I enjoy coming to work every day at Portsmouth so there's no need for me to change now, this is definitely my last stop'.

I had said last week - as had many, many others - that if that decision had not convinced people of his loyalty to Pompey and could not convince those that still had trouble accepting his return to do so, then nothing would...

I will alter that thought and say if those programme notes and the thoughts that followed have not finally once and for all changed people's opinion then really, nothing ever will!

HR has always said he is a manager and NOT a fan. Why the change of mind? Good news, I think, but I doubt it will convince the remaining detractors.

Atmos was a bit better yesterday, maybe the campaign worked?

the amtosphere was good before the goals, the goals really helped release some built up tension didnt they - hopefully a few more next weekend against plymouth will help even more, then its off to old trafford, and we will give them a game!

i loved the tuneful "blue army" bit...im not sure if ive heard that before! lets hope we can give man u a game - we need to pick up points after we dropped some in careless places...well, it would be nice anyway

Jbaker .. Point out the geezer complaining and I'll have a word ;). Interestingly though until the 'blue army' bit, there was a lot of frustration in the Fratton End as the crowd actually didn't get going that quick - Lot's of shout of 'come on lads' & 'sing you ****ers' also The Andersons Drummers turned up late (after kick-off) and I think everybody was expecting a big reception from the Fraton End at the start of the match for Harry but it didn't come.... (until later) Then the goal shocked everybody and it wasn't until (unusually) the south side of the Fratton End started singing 'Blue Army' that the whole place woke up .. Amazing though weren't it.. This has been Chix undercover reporter for Vital Pompey News @ 10 as usual singing his heart out - Pompey 'til you die Harry .. yeah me too !
