Redknapp singing Benji's praises

Redknapp singing Benji's praises

Not for the first time Harry Redknapp has sung the praises of hat trick hero Benjani with what he told The News after his treble earned us victory yesterday: 'it was good to see Benji get those goals.

'It's hard to believe he is the same player who had that diabolical goal record when he first came here.

'He is a brilliant lad. He never moans and he is hard as iron.

'He plays when he is injured and he works his socks off. He's a great lad'.

And to think some people had questioned his ability after the Sunderland game, with it even claimed that he 'must be sold'... everyone has a bad game or two, that was his. But in fairness who did play well that day?

I cannot say anything more about Benjani as I have literally shared these views and waxed lyrical about him a thousand times before, I will simply leave it at what Redknapp has said and turn the floor over to you fellas again to praise away!

One thing that I will say though, it once again showed just how much more effective that he is when played through the middle... yep, he can do the job out wide on the right but he is wasted compared to the impact that he makes through the middle.

I lied, another thing I will add is his partnership with Dave Nugent looked promising, so I would hope that this is given a little more time to flourish? I would expect this to continue against Plymouth, but the chances are Benjani will play the lone role against United at Old Trafford - and understandably so - at the end of the month.

Even without Benji's goals he's still a fantastic player and a great addition to the team. He's more of our second striker though, and we still don't have a number one striker. If we can get someone creative for the right side of midfield and a top quality finisher we can dream of Europe again.

nugent looked like just the sort of player benjani was last year - running around, getting chances, but not being able to hit a barn door from 6 hards. But with him there, doing a lot of the running around like a headles chicken, it leaves benjani with not much to do...other than score goals it would seem!

bring in this missing no.9 and the world is our lobster - nuge isnt the no.9 so that is why he doesnt wear that shirt, but he still has plenty about him to suggest he has a future here in my eyes, we gave benji plenty of time so we cannot not give this to nuge... benji is a fantastic footballer, his allround game is amazing - just look at his 3rd goal, he started the move outside his own area and then ran the full length of the pitch to finish it!

villavillavilla, i think that agbonlahor is a fantastic propsect and the sooner he is in the england squad the better but i wouldnt swap him for benji - fair enough you rate him highly but even in jest that is a ridiculous statement to make mate...

Benjani's touch to bring that long ball down from Diarra had me standing. Amazing stuff yesterday.

PR, I see we've been linked with Dani Guiza again - I rate this guy and hope that the rumours are correct this time.
