Traore moves on...

Another player left Pompey on Friday as Djimi Traore bid his farewells when he joined Rennes on loan for the rest of the season with a permanent move lined up at the end of this loan should all work out.

Around about a year ago Traore arrived from Charlton to what can best be described as a 'luke warn reception', as in all honesty he was not the type of player that we expected to sign but in all fairness he came in to be an almost ever present after his arrival - this season however he has only made 5 appearance, the last of which came as an injury time sub last weekend.

My thinking upon his arrival was that he was always likely to be a 'stop gap' signing, and so this has proved, but again as said although I will admit that I was not best pleased when he signed - but I had agreed to give him a break - he did a job.

It is highly unlikely that he will return but you never know... good luck to the fella though and he must be thanked for what he did do for us.

Can't be doing with player that carry a reputation like Traore's, makes for awful pub banter. I nearly topped myself when we were linked with Bramble. Anyways Djim' - tarrah.

Just over a year since he made his debut against Sheffield United - Bye Djimi at least you made one more appearance for us than you did for Charlton (12 v 11) .. Can't say you'll be missed though.... Not one for the Pompey Hall of Fame..

In a word. Good.

Harsh words, I thought the last few times that I saw him play he was pretty solid for us (albeit he was never going to be first choice).
Tantona
I wonder if he paid his Council Tax before he went to France
Chix
he was ok. not good, not bad - but i would have quite liked bramble to come here - he is still a good defender, whatever anyone says!
pompeycarpet
i think that his previous reputation of being 'bad' has stuck with him for many - but lets face it if you play over 100 gmaes for liverpool you cant be that bad, yuo play a couple of times by mistakes but that many times aint a fluke... i thought he did ok, i rmember a couple of acrobatic clearances off the line - 1 against arsenal was fantastic.
pompeyrug
wasn't he the geezer who scored that great own goal for Liverpool?
merlin
thats a good point rug, when we signed him and lauren I expected more from both of them, they have barely been featured for us and yet they both had fairly succesfull stints at arsenal and liverpool, I dont really understand why but I am happy he is leaving, there is no point in holding on to dead weight and paying for it,

pompeycarpet: Bramble for Pompey, you're having a giraffe mate. Another Bramble classis this aftermnoon against afternoon against Everton! I'd prefer Wilf Bramble.
