Congratulations to Havant

Congratulations to Havant

The second biggest club in the area behind Pompey - of course I mean Havant & Waterloovile - booked their place in round 4 of the FA cup after a fantastic 4-2 replay win over Swansea.

Having managed to hold the league one high flyers to a 1-1 draw in Swansea a couple of weeks back West Leigh Park was the setting of the replay last night and the Hawks did not disappoint.

Yep, they rode their luck somewhat with the woodwork saving them as it had several times in the original tie but that is the magic of the cup. After racing into a 3-0 lead, Swansea came back to 3-2 and even missed a penalty but the 4th Hawks goal killed off the tie.

This win sets them up with a once in a lifetime trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool the weekend after next. Clearly I will be fully focused on our tie with Plymouth that day - I will be at the game - but I will be listening out to how the Hawks are fairing.

Briliant for them. I was very nervous for them as the score changed to 3-2, thinking the worse, glad I was wrong. I trust they will exploit every financial avenue for the match. 2 teams in Hampshire, they'res only 2 teams in Hampshire.

2 teams in Hampshire; I feel a new chant coming on, starting this Saturday. Well done HAWKS, enjoy your trip to Liverpool and save me a ticket for the replay.

Yeah well done to the lads. They may get hammered at Anfield as I expect they will send in the big guns to ensure they don't get embarressed. But hey H&W will get a good pay out which will mean an awful lot too them, and of course what a fantastic day that will be for the lads to walk out onto that pitch. You never know anyway, they might get a penalty or something and nick a 1-0.

I'm happy to say I was there - it was a fantastic game, loved every minute of it! What a fab result for the Hawks - will forever be part of local folklore. I don't expect them to get anything at Anfield, except a glorious day, marvellous memories and a fantastic experience. And the Pride of the South Coast. C'mon you Hawks!!!!

Posted this is a thread last night just after whistle went - The full time whistle has just gone at West Leigh Park and amazingly the Hawks have beaten Swansea 4-2 in a game that had everything. It sounded at absolute thriller from the first minute to the last. Once again congratulations to Havant & Waterlooville - a trip to Anfield what a reward - fairy tale stuff.

In fairness when Gary Roberts - obviously now at Wigan - says Kenny Jackett showed 'a lack of respect' towards him in the final weeks of his Pompey career it's hard to disagree.

Next in (the firing) line

Of course, Huddersfield loanee Holmes-Dennis is out for the season after suffering ligament damage now - having initially had to sit behind Haunstrup - McCrory has a twisted knee.
