The Taylor saga rumbles on...

The Taylor saga rumbles on...

Matty Taylor does not seem any closer to a move away from Pompey, despite bids having already been accepted and Boro now said to have joined the race having been said to have offered £4.5m... this seems too far away for him and his family though surely?

He was not in the squad to face Sunderland last weekend with an 'injury' being cited as the reason, which is a touch too convenient really do you not think...

He is going to go, but once again we have maintained the stance that he will not go until a replacement is found, Peter Storrie said: 'Matty wants regular first-team football and we understand that, but we need to bring players in first.

'We have had a couple of offers and he has made it clear he wants to go.

'No one is guaranteed first-team football.

'We have received two bids which are what we want but at the moment it is all on hold until we are ready'.

The fella is not going to play again, so why do we not just get rid of him now?

What is the point of keeping him to make up the numbers if he is not even going to be used to do this - we will all be sad to see him leave, many feel it is the wrong thing but it is going to happen so lets just sell him and have done with it, so he and his family can move on with things as can we.

It's up to him, to pick a club & the price to be sorted. Very much a case of when & not if.

I read this morning Middlesbrough are interested as well. I hope this gets sorted for him soon, as he's obviously not going to get in the team, so its better for him to move sooner rather than have it all drag on.

We would love to have Matty Taylor at Boro. Would be an ideal replacement for the out-going (?) Downing, wouldn't you agree?
Boro 01

Boro 01 .. On his day .. which he doesn't seem to get very often these days.. Taylor is far superior to Downing... not exactley the same tyoe of player (Matty is move defensive minded)... but if you have a midfield of Gary O & Matty you won't be short of players who will run all day and give everything for the cause .. Also with Taylor you'll see some of the best goals your ever likely to witness. It's obvious he's not staying at Fratton so it's just a case of where... but I think he's more likely to stay down South so if it Reading, Boro and say Fulham.. I don't rate your chances that highly.. unless Gary O can do a sell job..

Boro 01 - what Chix said, except to add that the difference between a Downing and Matty is the latter has tons of heart which makes him a lt more valuable. I still can't figure out why we're getting rid of him but if it be to rejoin GaryO in a midfield somewhere then wish him all the best (even though he's likely to come back to bite us in the butt !)

Im sick and tired for storrie and arry saying we cant get rid of him untill we get a replacement for him, wtf?? he is not playing, not even on the bench, there is no point in not selling him, the only decent reason would be if it was some sort of a tactic of raising his price
16/01/2008 16:18:00
ok. hes leaving. but why the **** cant he play nin the meantime???
16/01/2008 17:12:00
Let him go take the money and get us a striker, if Matty is not in the team or on the bench what good is he to us, allow him the chance to play football even if it is some where else, he is a great lad,but if he has to go let him go.
16/01/2008 18:46:00
Boro01 Taylor just doesnt get enough games to be match sharp here but i think you will find him superior to Downing, particulalrly with the way your team plays. I dont want him to leave i think it is a mistake but i understand his reasoning
16/01/2008 21:00:00
taylor and oneil in the same side make it much more balanced, as you have a player willing to un the fullback into the goround on both sides, which tires the oposition, opens up space - and if that fails, you have aplayer that can score spectacular goals! and he can put in a good cross, and freekick, and wont ever miss a penalty... i dont see why we are only getting 4.5 million for him if he goes though! or is it 5.5? its a real bidding war!!!
