Pompey interested in Kezman?
Well here is a new name to add to the list of 'Pompey links', Mateja Kezman.
The Serbian striker is now plying is trade in Turkey with Fenerbache but is being 'linked' with a 'knockdown' move to Pompey and we have 'expressed and interest'.
With the thought that we have limited funds 'knockdown' seems to fit the bill and the former Chelsea man does, or at least did have a pedigree so if there is any truth in this at 28 he is still young enough to make an impact isn't he - but I read the other day that he wants to be a monk?
He is, if nothing else a 'new' name to add to the growing 'linked with a Pompey move' list, so what would we think of this - 'deal or no deal?'

Didn't make it with the good supply of Chelsea's players so how is he going to make it here with no supply?

Well we won't sign them all but we do need a few extra players. If it's a case of can we afford to or can we afford not to?

Mateja Kezman is an excellent player, I think it just didnt work well between him and Mourinho. If I recall properly he was for 2-3 years one of the best strikers with feyenoord roterdam...didnt they become champions even? He would be a teriffic signing

Rug - he played 37 or so games with 7 goals scored. That's around the same rate Benjani gets. He was pretty rubbish in Spain and he's doing OK in Turkey. But I wouldn't expect anyone to be doing badly in Turkey. If Kezman could find his PSV form that would be great but as I said with our support there's no chance. We need a player who's willing to work a bit for the goal.

I think if you get him it would be a great signing, he just needs to find the form he had at PSV, a very very impressive record of 31 goals in 29 games in a season.

If papers are to be believed then it looks like we will be getting Fred in the next couple of days, fancy taking Defoe off our hands for £8 million?

i agree with you baker, I think we will have to settle and perhaps even overpay for a 'decent' addition just because the competition is pretty stiff and we are desperate

Spurs want to get rid of Darren Bent more than Defoe, so even if they get Fred doesn't mean to say Defoe is going anywhere.

not a first choice, not a last choice - but the turkish league is not exactly the same standard as our own, is it?

We need a striker quickly, he would be able to do a job for us, as the way Nugent and Benjani laboured round the pitch on Sunday we could have had Quinny and Teddy up front and got more.
Time is running out to sign players and even the squad are getting anxious arent they.

Kezman went to chelski with a reputation and worked hard to enhance it, basically he had anal blindness, he just couldnt ever see himself getting his arse out of bed.

plenty of midfield links and 1 deal to be sealed by Friday - apparently - but so long as we get this striker, and not just a 'rash buy' by the end of the month it'll be ok.

Kezman.. He's 28 a proven goalscorer wherever he's been where the problem... bring it on.. we are getting closer to the end of January day by day a we need a striker desperately.. I'll take anybody at this stage rather than be stuck with what we have.... Well not anybody .. but Kezman is impressive and if he can hit the form he hit in Holland I'd snap him up..
