Its 100% official Redknapp's staying

The Pompey Site has confirmed what media reports have been saying - Harry Redknapp is staying with Pompey, so in true Homer Simpson style - woo hoo!

Everything about his family life seemed to point to only one thing that he would stay, but so much silence always made me think - in fairness a lot of us think - that he would go, I was worried I made no secret of this and maybe my worry made me fear for the worst?

I kept trying to convince myself that I would not have been 'gutted' but merely 'disappointed' had he left, but it became obvious to me on Friday night when I was moping around work that I was 'devastated' at the thought he could leave again... thankfully, he has decided to stay with us and continue the work he has started.

A lot of people have never been able to 'forgive' his brief sabbatical down the road, my thinking always was that although clearly it was not a club he should have gone to but at the end of the day he was out of work, they needed a manager so he took a job that was 'convenient' to him, it also stuck two big fingers up at Milan Mandaric at that time... now after this rejection of Newcastle surely those that could not or would not forgive him must now? They must stop cutting off their nose to spite their faces!

Had he left his legacy with Pompey would have been tarnish, possibly beyond repair this time but this legacy can never die now and his 'legendary' status at Portsmouth Football Club will never die and the likelihood of him being cemented as 'our greatest ever manager' is there for the taking, should he carry on taking us forward as he has then this will be assured without doubt.

Now Sacha Gaydamak looks like he will give him some money to push on the good work that we have done so far this season and if nothing else other than a reward for this loyalty we deserve a place in Europe, he must see this being a possibility now or he might not have stayed - our future must be very bright to him, as Newcastle is a job few would reject.

We all might have said a few thing on Vital Pompey in the heat of the moment, but very, very few comments were overly unfair to be honest, some were borne out of frustration at not being kept in the loop and knowing what was going on but I do not think that anyone could, or will hold things against people and will not be judging people - I know I will not.

Football is a passionate game, we all love Portsmouth Football Club and want what is best, when it looks like something or someone might 'betray us' sometimes emotions run high - I think we were firm, yet fair throughout this ordeal, which is thankfully now over.

Fellas we are in for one hell of a second half to the season, prepare for some signings pretty soon I feel - and quite possibly a big money signing or dare I even say signings? We thought that we did not have any money, and although we should not be expecting a fortune to be spent I think it is conceivable that the club record transfer fee could quite possibly be broken again...

Lets go to Sunderland tomorrow, and pick up 3 points now, this would be a fantastic starting point.

More than ever now !

Did anybody hear the interview with Milan.. He was over the moon that H is staying but I got the impression (reading between the lines) that he'd love to come back here.. He kept mentioning how good it was, how passionate the fans are and he even called us the best fans in the world,... I hope the Leicester fans aren't too upset !!... but then again we are ...

he told sky sports news that it was becuase orsmouth is where his heart is. i think that he really would have struggled to leave us, he truly does epitimise pompey - loyalty, passion, and...well, a nice house!

Phew . . . thats a relief! But I do think he would have been a numpty to have gone, he would have mentored Shearer as assistant for 6 months before being sacked and the god of the Toon taking over. I think this decision is because it suits Arry more than because it suits Pompey. If Liverpool sack Benitez and beckon, he'll go. But I am delighted he's staying - lets put this behind us now and get on with hammering Sunderland!

chix - i cought the end ofthe interview - and the interview with harry. manderic and redknapp made us what we are today...well, more harry, and manderic then sascha...but between the threee of them, tey have transformed a failing club into a succsesful one. if you look at improvement over the last few years, and if you look at ambition, no-one can beat us. to climb from bottom of the championship to top (nearly!) of the premiership - and keep on going up is a truly remarkable feat for such a short amount of time. pomepy on the up! play up pompey!

There is such a thing as loyalty in football after all. Perhaps the Toon can learn from this and appoint a manager and stick with him!!

Sorry i doubted you too, but i just feared that the house was about to collapse again, hopefuuly the chairman will deliver all the Harry requires to take us to the highest level. He has proved that he has morales and a love of the club, i hope the reception for the team reflects our love for all things Pompey, i bet the Maccams will enjoy taking the micheal as well. Thanks Harry you have restored my faith in the game, thank you Mr Storrie and thanks to the chairman, now lets hope the players reflect the good news tomorrow with another massive performance

I think Sunderland only want 3 points Carpet but hopefully we will pull the RUG from under them. Although a loss away could transform into a win at home, such is football...

russellm - Harry may have asked storrie to show that he was commited to harry - but i think harrys love ofthe ckub was what made him stay. not money. oh, and chix - i loved the bit clearly directed at matty taylor...suggests they really dont get on though, or maybe they do get on, well enough to joke about the situation anyway...

You cant blame Harry for hearing them out. Its likely to be the biggest offer he would get after the england call, and lik how he was treated by the FA on that. We all need a pat on the back sometime, and going the full hog with this offer probably made Harry feel wanted so good on him. Great he is staying and when Peter Storrie said 45 calls were made behind Peter, Sacha and Harry yesterday it underlines all 3's commitment. This decision also cements where we are now, if you were honest who would have thought we would get picked over newcastle a few years back. PUP

pompeycarpet, no doubt about it HR and MT do not get on, but i don't think love for the club was the decider, i am sure it was a factor but i believe the fact that Sandra didn't want to go was a bigger factor. HR even eludes to that himself during the interview saying "it wouldn't have been a problem to move up north, well not for me anyway". I am pleased he stayed cos the timing was awfull, but i am not so naive to think we would all have been so bothered if it was the end of the season and we hadn't made a UEFA cup spot. I think peoples reaction would have been a bit different then, but here's to hoping we never find out
