Baros denies Pompey links

Among all the Harry Redknapp talk I managed to find a little 'snippet' on setanta sports that Pompey might have shown an interest in Milan Baros?

It was reported that he could return to the English game with Pompey being interested, but he has told L'Equipe that he wants to stay with Lyon and when asked said there had been any interest shown by Pompey, he denied this: 'I never said I want to leave OL. What I want is playing as many games as I can to have a chance to play Euro 2008.

'I never spoke about a transfer to anybody. I am Lyonnais.

'I hope I will play against Toulouse on Saturday. I don't know if I will start next weekend'.

This seems to have crept up from nowhere, although we are being linked to just about everyone aren't we!

To be honest I have always liked the fella, so if we could get him, he would come here and we could afford him - which we cannot - I would be more than happy with this, but it is not going to happen is it.

One thing that is sure though is that until we know what the situation is regarding our manager and who it is going to be the task of attracting players - which is something we desperately need to do - is something that will be even more difficult for us, which is a major concern...

Setanta Sports appear to be a dodgy place to pick up rumours at the mo. Mind you Baros would fit the bill short term.

he's a decent player with plenty of experience and some success, as long as he wasnt too expensive I would welcome him. You brought up an excellent point rug, this whole Harry to Newcastle thing is certainly deterring players from coming to the club, noone wants to move to a club and have the manager that brought them to the club move out
whitestones
Nice thought but unlikely, especially under the current chaos.
storagematt
experiance player - but i dont think he has the "flair" we want. that said, if we could get him on loan till the african players return, anything would be good!
pompeycarpet
He would have done a decent job for us until the end of the season, never mind lets hope that we get a couple of players in soon.
Owenspompey
lets hope we are in a position to get players soon!
pompeycarpet
Baros to Pompey... be good but will he come given current climate.. ?.. would you ... unless this Harry business clears up pretty soon we'll get nobody...
Chix
just shows how much i read the article..."baros denies pompey link" - so i doubt he would be coming anyway!
pompeycarpet
Chix - good point who would come when the position of manager is in doubt.
eastneydave
yeah exactly what any small championship team like yourselves need! a lazy donkey of a striker who can't hit a barn door and *****s him self when he gets any where near goal! good bit of buiness there lads! He has been a success nowhere at club level!
villavillavilla
we won't get baros harry stuff unhelpful, harry wanted him on loan after his injury at liverpool, didn't come then. i know kanute was pricey but he would have got us goals ,not suprisingly now linked with spurs
gateway
boros denies pompey link - that was the first we had heard of it though. oh, and villavillavilla - we finished above you in the league last year. think again before calling us a small championship club. we may be small, but we have a nasty bite!!! (3-1)
pompeycarpet
the sooner this business with 'arry is sorted one way or the other the sooner we can get back to something near normailty and true and bring in the players we need and want... but it has to be sorted soon as we are running out of time!
pompeyrug
Really don't want to sign Baros. christ a step backwards and then some.
The Rabbi
Barros is rubbish we dont need him sitting on the sidelines injured for months on end we need a proper goal scorer like Defoe, Kanoute , or Fred these boys can take us forward not sick note Barros
ronnie redknapp
OH YEAH LIKE BIG PLAYERS LIKE THAT WILL GO TO U! u only get old payers n not quite good enough players! or foreigners that nobody has heard of! these r out of ur league
villavillavilla
I don't like villa fans like villacubed up here, because he gives the rest of us a bad name. I like portsmouth, really i do, but i fully expect us to repay that favour you gave us at VP when we come to visit, pompeycarpet. But now for the reason i came vx3 makes a good point, you don't want him. Not only is he not that great, but if ever he throws a hissy fit, you'll just get *****ed off with him and want him out. Think of it this way, Baros is the newcastle board, and you're the new newcastle manager.
Carlosio
Dont know if he will be a good signing, can produce some good stuff but seems to be a bit lazy and gets the hump far too often.
will it ever happen
