Not an ideal time is it...

Not an ideal time is it...

Talk of speculation linking your manager with a move to another club is never 'ideal' at the best of times is it, but when this comes at the beginning of a transfer window when you are desperate for players to arrive this is even more 'inconvenient'...

With uncertainty surrounding the future of Harry Redknapp this is not doing us any favours with making the signings that we need to - not only replace those currently in Africa, but also in making signings that were needed anyway.

How much money we have remains to be seen - not a lot from the looks of it though, but the more days that go by where we are unable to at least start approaching, let alone start negotiating with potential targets, the more likely it is that we will miss out on people.

We need players in, and although we should not and will not be making 'panic' signings the sooner the picture surrounding Redknapp is 100% clarified either way the sooner we can start bringing in these fellas that we need to.

I have made no secret of the fact that I am 'concerned' that he might be tempted, but this part of me keeps saying he is not going to go. There is this other part that is also saying that he is hoping he can use this to try and convince Sacha Gaydamak to give him a bit more cash to spend this month too though?

Either way, we need to know where we stand, if this future has to be without Redknapp, as much as I would hate to see this we need to know sooner rather than later. If it will be with him I would be absolutely delighted, but again we need to know as soon as, so we can put any uncertainty that potential targets might be having as to 'who' they would play for to bed.

Lets not try to hide the fact that players 'want' to play for him, he is a draw that has attracted so many players in the past - and hopefully will many more in the future - but until they know if it is him they will play for we will not sign anyone, so lets get this sorted once and for all and get these players in that we need.

agree matt, as i said - but this particular time is an even worse time for this speculation to be happening...

I have always trusted HR's judgement so I hope he will see sense this time and do the right thing.... he must know that if he goes to barcodes he will be looking for a new job soon as I dont think that they will be satisfied with anything but the title or europe straightaway! Saying that I have just read a brief article saying that HR has left the training ground early and has cancelled a scheduled press conference! Not Good news

ive trusted his judjement - but he is prone to demnostrating his ideas by simply walking out. please can this not happen! oh, and also, if we dont have him come out now and say "im not leaving" then how will we get any signings down here?

What worries me on this particular apect is that should he leave now we'd not find a replacement in time to buy anybody in during this window... So we'd be stuck with old Lazy bones, Nugent and Benji up front with Utaka on the right... and that's when they return... The timing is just crap .. and if he has anybody 'good' or 'big' lined up surely he'd look at taking them to Newcastle first.. he's hardly gonna pass everything over is he.. any it won't matter because he won't go (I hope)

exactly this is why the timing is worse than any other time - we desperately need players but until we know the score nothing can or will happen and the more time that passes the less time we have to get these players in that we need... come on 'arry its time to decide are you going to resign to take the job or are you staying - if you dont want to be here, sorry to be blunt but bugger off, if you do come out and tell us - as you owe us this even if sherwood feels you owe pompey nothing! - that much...

Smith staying at Northampton

Personally I wouldn't have thought Cook would have brought Smith back but even if the Pompey manager wanted this he couldn't under the terms of his Northampton loan.

Almost there...stay on target

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.

With most playing 39 League Two games in the 2016/17 season, this year could still see a few players break the 20 goal mark.
