Sulley Muntari the biggest miss

Sulley Muntari the biggest miss

Out of all the African that have left Pompey for the African nations Sulley Muntari will be most missed! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyboy and tracyc's poll are thoughts that I would agree with to a degree.

This is a subject that we have spoken about many times recently and although we will miss all 4 of the players that have left to take part in the African nations, my main thought is that they will be missed mainly due to the fact that we are left short of numbers...

That said, if I had to select 1 of them not to have gone it would have been Muntari.

What the poll asked - Which of the 4 African players who are leaving will we miss the most?

How you voted - Muntari 46%, Nah - it'll be fine without them 14%, Diop 10%, Not an individual - just 4 players going 9%, Harry will bring players in so it won't matter 9%, Kanu 8%, Utaka 4%

Current Poll - The next 6 games are not too bad for us on the whole, so we should be expecting good points really - shouldn't we?

We have games with Sunderland (a), Derby (h), United (a), Chelsea (h), Bolton (a) and Sunderland (h) coming up, so we would be expecting to do quote well wouldn't we, but just how well - this is what pompeycarpet wants to know with this - 'how many points will Pompey pick up in the next 6 games?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

With Ghana the home nation and among the favourites he probably wont be back until after Bolton Away.

yep i would expect muntari to be away for most of, if not all of the african nations... i like kanu but i dont think we will miss him much at all, for all the use utaka has been on the whole since october time he may has well have left them! diop cant shot or pass but his battling qualities and power will be missed... either way, we'll be ok tho and get thro alright.

Good player who we will miss and not be able to replace, i just hope he gets back double quick. Ghana should be thrown out of the competition for being the hosts!! Anything but get him back.

yes, we will miss him - as he is the only one we dont have a natural replacement for. diop=hughes, utaka=we dont want on current form anyway, and lauren/taylor work anyway, kanu=nugent, but who can come in for a hard tackling creative midfileder? i would say davis...but hes already in the side. and mendes and mvuemba offer the creativity - but without the hard tackling.

The one thing I'm surprised at from this poll is the one thing that I'm pleased about.. Kanu only got 8% of the votes.. I always thought that I was the only one who really couldn't see his worth.. Now I can claim that 92% of people who had the opportnity to acknowledge Kanu as the most important african we had.. didn't.. all my moaning since August sudedenly feels justified

chix - 92% of people didnt say they couldnt see his worth - they just said that the other africans, and the lot as a whole, would be more or a loss. the exception, was utaka...

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.
